Just to the East of Knysna, at the end of a dirt road, lies Noetzie, a secluded beach which is proudly encircled by castles. It is one of the last remaining homes for the very rare African Black Oystercatcher and is therefore a conservancy.

Noetzie is not easy to find and not easy to drive to, but it is a charming and sweet spot. We were there on a windy morning so we limited our visit to a walk across the beach but it is a hidden gem. Just...More

It was a lovely day and we packed a picnic to enjoy on the beach. The dirt road (good to drive) to Noetzie travels through a township - not ideal... The walk down was not too bad, the one up, a bit more strenuous :)....More

Took a trip to Noetzie as hadn't been there for 20 years. An easy drive, although you turn off the main road and pass a township, so you might feel nervous. A dirt road all the way. A long flight of stairs that lead you...More

One very well kept secret in Knysna. One of the most beautiful beaches of South Africa. Go down the 200 steps and discover the beauty.

This can be a quick visit to look up at the castles or, you can make day of it and spend the day on the beach. There is a fair number of stairs to climb to get down there (and back up). The toilets were...More

A great beach. Just don’t go swimming alone. A bit of a dirt road drive off the N2 but the road is ok for most vehicles. Once at the car park the fun starts. Steep climb down to the beach but it beats the climb...More

One of the best beaches in the country. Fire damage still visible from the 2017 fires, but the beach is amazing. Steep steps and walk down and back up, so take it slow. Only down side is having to drive through the squatter camp to...More

Noetzie beach is filled with historic buildings:) A drive through a township and then the very exclusive estates.. to get to the beach itself. There is a good couple of stairs(50-60... maybe more) of a climb down to the beach! The beach is amazing for...More
