Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were visiting the Lone Oak Tree and wanted to place to have a stop and break when touring around the area. The winery was very friendly and open on Friday which was nice. The prices are reasonable and they also have excellent coffee/cappuccino if you are just looking for a nice coffee stop when driving.

We went there just to pick up an outdoor pack. It was veey nice, bread, cheese, paste, wine, even glasses, vegerables and olives. There even a corkscrew. It is all in an insulated bag. 3-4 people can eat well. All for only 219 ILS. When Covid is over i guess vine tours are available.

It was so fun to do a wine tasting and learn about all the wonderful wines that Ella is producing. We were really impressed with all the different varieties they produce.
We really loved the white wine and purchased a couple of bottles. Also very unique Pinot noir ! Also very impressed with Oshra, the manager of the visitor center. Thank you for a great visit, we really enjoyed it!

May 2018 • Family
My extended family group (10 adults and 1 child) visited this winery two days ago. Everyone in my family was very much looking forward to the visit; we'd hoped it would be a lovely interlude during an intense Israel tour. Unfortunately for us, it was not to be... we left the winery with a truly awful taste in our mouths.

Bullet points...

WINES: I thought they were all right. Definitely nothing special, but they were ok. The woman telling us about the winery and doing the tasting seemed informed and friendly — UNTIL we received the bill at the end of our visit. See more below.

LUNCH: We had also booked a lunch, and I'll just summarize by saying it's extremely overpriced for what it is. We were charged 140 shekels/person (about $39) for what looked—and tasted—like a bunch of deli salads from the local supermarket. I'm not saying the food was terrible... but for $39/person at a beautiful winery I expect a bit more. In short, lunch was a rip-off. Don't waste your money.

SERVICE: Terrible! When we received the final bill, I noticed two problems.

1. We were charged for 12 lunches when there were only 11 of us present. My cousin had to stay back in Jerusalem that morning because of a dental emergency, but the winery representative explained that she could not make an exception— even in the case of a medical emergency—because she'd ordered the food based on the original booking. Honestly, I thought an exception might be reasonable, given the medical circumstances, but I bit my tongue and agreed to pay for the 12th lunch.

2. The real problem arose when I noticed we'd been charged for 10 tastings when only 9 of us had tasted. In addition to my daughter (age 13), one of the adults in our group (my sister) doesn't drink — so obviously, neither of them did a tasting. The final bill, however, charged every single adult in our group for the tasting.

When I pointed out this issue, the winery rep insisted that I should pay for ALL adults, REGARDLESS of whether or not they tasted. Now, call me crazy, but I don't think a person who does not do a tasting should pay for a tasting. I've been to a lot of wineries in my life (I live about an hour away from Napa Valley, in California), and I've never once seen a non-drinking companion charged for a tasting they did not do.

I tried to explain my point of view — that I didn't think we should be charged for 10 tastings when only 9 of us had tasted — but the winery rep refused to budge. I was honestly surprised by her insistence, especially given the fact that we were already paying her a very tidy sum of money. Between the 140 shekels/person for lunch plus 40 shekels/person for the tasting, the final bill came to 2,080 shekels (about $583). My perspective was that we should pay only 2,040 shekels (about $572).

Now I know what you're thinking—it's only 40 shekels!—but for me it was the principle. My sister did not do a tasting; therefore, she should not be charged for a tasting. And in the context of the rather large sum of money we were paying, I frankly couldn't believe the winery rep was giving me such a hard time about a few shekels.

We went back and forth for a long time — at least 15 minutes if not more — and the winery rep refused to budge. We both became a bit emotional... she was yelling at me, and I admit that I was yelling right back at her. Truly, I'm not someone who typically does this kind of thing, but again, it was the principle of the matter. I just could not accept that my sister was being charged for a tasting she didn't do.

In the end, we paid only what I thought we owed: 2,040 shekels. The winery rep very grudgingly ran my card for that amount, although she still clearly extremely angry with me.

And so there you have it... my story in brief. (Ok, maybe not so brief.) In short, I cannot recommend this winery. They know nothing about how to conduct an upstanding business, nor do they understand customer service.

Sorry, Ella Winery. We really wanted to like you, but you let us down.

The wine was pretty decent, one of their blends was great, but the location isn't really nice, it's also hard to find.
I was here with a group of people and the lady giving the tasting and explanation was super nice and professional, the tasting room is small but cute, but the outside could be improved, come on Israel has great weather year round how about a nice garden and patio seating.

Rude. Did not seem to want religious people and could not answer my questions. I would never buy their wine.

Interesting and tasty. Area is beautiful so you can combine with a hike or picnic etc. Staff professional and part of the wine making equipment can be seen through the glass.

They set up an excellent wine tasting, with cheeses, bread and wonderful wines. Our tour guide Zvi Levran took us, and we had a great time, ended up buying a lot of wine, cheese and Sesame cookies. Very nice, definitely worth a visit.

Nice winery at the Ella Valley. We visited on a tasting event on Friday with a live band. For 40 NIS you got a glass and could taste all the wines and even eat some snacks. If you buy wine the entry price was deducted. Very good bargain, yet the wines were average.
The area is beautiful on this season.
