We hired Gwenevere,a widebeam narrowboat, from My River Cruising for a 4 day midweek break in May 2021. On arrival the induction process was slightly more complex due to Covid restrictions but delivered well by the My River Cruising team nonetheless. The boat was extremely well presented, spotlessly clean and tidy. Compared to other boats we have hired previously, the level of accommodation was first class. We opted for the stove pack, which proved to be a good call as the woodburner was a great way to heat the boat on chilly evenings. The business owners Jane and Sam were very thorough with the hand over process. There is a lot of information to absorb at the start, not, least due to Gwenevere being a widebeam boat, which handles slightly differently to others. Jane came on board for with us as we set off for an initial run through of everything. She was very thorough and helpful. We had an extremely enjoyable break. Our progress was hampered by the river levels being unusually high due to the recent exceptional rainfall and stretches of the Thames being put on "red boards" (effectively closed to hire craft due to strength of the stream running), but this didn't spoil anything and Sam and Jane were always on hand in the background to give guidance when necessary. Overall a really enjoyable few days on the Thames. Henley is a great overnight spot and easy to find a mooring for a walk into town. Highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to get on the water, My River Cruising were excellent.

This is a wide beam boat a bit like a Dutch barge so large spacious living area, full headroom and well equipped kitchen area, 3 cabins all en-suite. At first sight it looks a bit imposing and the first lock tackled alone is a bit stressful but actually once you adjust to the slow pace needed and everyone gets the hang of the ropes it’s a very enjoyable part of the whole experience. Just line up creep in slowly with bit of drive to maintain steering and a bit of reverse once the ropes are around the bollards. The locks are also where you can fill up with water and although the company did tell us this I don’t think you realise how much water showering and washing up etc takes so fill up when you can. We had one or two queries on how to operate the boat, the company responded immediately and were very helpful and friendly. The boat was in excellent condition and everything worked properly we had a great time, I would certainly recommend My River Cruising, we intend to make this an annual trip

Beautifully appointed boat. Lovely bedrooms and all the mod cons. Big and heavy to manoeuvre so need to take it slow. My river cruising really helpful and friendly. Teach in at the beginning v good to get to grips with turning the boat around , making it through locks and mooring. Highly recommended long weekend or longer (if river isn’t flowing too fast and locks closed!). Better than the canals in my view as less locks and more to see.

We joined with another family of 4 to make up 8 of us for a weekend on the Thames. After the inevitable delay from 2020 to 2021 it was great to be able to do the trip, we were called on the day and a larger boat had come available at short notice. This was Gwenevere which is a wide beam and new boat. Following a bit of negotiation we went for the upgrade and didn't regret it. Gwenevere is a very nice and modern boat, 3 double ensuites, large well equipped galley and lounge area. Was comfortable for 8 and very toasty and warm with the log burner on. No complaints at all. One thing to bear in mind is that the bathrooms are all ensuite so if someone is using the pull out bed in the lounge they need to agree which loo in which ensuite they are going to use ! We made it up as far as Benson lock which was some good solid cruising, coming back much quicker with the river. Sam and Jane at my river cruising were very professional and organised. All very clear instructions and instructors.

We had a lovely weekend river cruise on board Geanna. The boat was very well appointed and the spacious shower cubicle in the en-suite was such a pleasant surprise! Jane, Sam and the team were fabulous and kept us informed regarding river conditions throughout our trip. We would definitely do this again.
