Bahia de los Angeles is tough to get to, but that's what makes it so special. The town has less than 3,000 people and is right in front of the Gulf of California's Midriff Islands, a hotspot for biodiversity. The bay itself is beautiful and...More

Getting here is just part of the fun. Driving from either the Pacific side via El Rosario and Catavina on Mexico 1 until you pass Chapala and on to Mexico 12 and turn toward LA Bay. Or, you can drive South from Mexicali on Mexico...More

On the water in Bahia De Los Angeles, Baja California, Mexico. Cabins and motel rooms. Basic, cheap, great for casual vacations. The large covered porch is good for cooking and dining using your camp kitchen.

If you are looking for an authentic Baja experience make the short trek across the peninsula to Bahia de Los Angeles. This small town has a great vibe to it and some excellent whale watching. In town ask around for Pancho as he knows the...More

Scenic, welcoming, and a whole heck of a lot safer than the internet makes it out to be, Baja is all its cracked up to be. Peaceful oceans and bays with occasional sea turtles and whale sharks-- you might mistake it for a rockier desert...More

Sun, sand, intimate ocean, fishing, whales, whale sharks, hiking, spectacular vistas, remoteness and people who enjoy such. All these are there. Accommodations and restaurant fare are marginal. Not for everyone ... but if the above is your bag ... it is unique and special.

You're here to experience the great outdoors. Try and ignore the not so hot lodging options in town. The beach is lovely, as is the hike to the lighthouse. Dig for some fresh clams, snorkel, or just lay in the sand.

I originally booked at another hotel and they said that because I had not paid for my reservation that they could not honor my booking. (Some hotels in baja are not set up to take payments over the phone or internet) No problem, we moved...More

This bay is so remote that only the true lovers of Mexico go here. There are no tacky tourists to ruin the relaxing vibe. I want to retire here!

Lovely spot. But every time I have gone there it seems to rain. There do not get a lot of rain so this is humorous. Good for whale watching and for fishing. Also just plain a pretty area.

I think August to November. The water has to be warm. Be aware that it can get pretty hot on the Gulfside in summer. October has always been a good time to visit, but you also get the north winds and maybe an end of season... More

I have camped at Ruben Dagget's several time. North of town but convenient. He has fishing boats and can arrange other activities.
