two hours flew by as our kids did the treasure map route. What a great idea to get the kids learning history and without smartphones. The castle is worth visiting, be prepared to feel the burn in your legs after climing all those ancient stairs!

We were surprised as the place was closed in October. So we just walked around the desolate surrounding area not tapping into the real thing. Nice historical site though.

What is left of Kastelholms slot are ruins. Over the centuries it has been built and destroyed multiple times. The slot looks better outside in its surroundings than inside.

I did not go inside, as I like more visiting castles on the outside. It is open from May until September. The area around is also very nice, with the water and boats, and the other museums. Make sure you visit them all.

It is one of the must visits in Åland. We only saw the castle from outside, but it was still worth it.
