We visited the Hoyasaleswara temple during our trip to Belur and Chikmagalur. The temple is dedicated to Hindu god Shiva and is a place to admire the Hoysala architecture at its best. This is a dvikuta temple with one temple for the Hoysala king and one for his wife.

Visited this place as a part of Shravanabelagola-Belur-Halebid trip. A temple dedicated to Lord Siva built by Hoysala kings. It is said that it took nearly 110 years for construction. Each and every corner speaks to itself through the sculptures. Belur is said to be beautiful inside and Halebid is said to be beautiful both inside and outside.

Another beautiful temple of hoysala empire, though smaller then the Belur temple. 2 beautiful shiva linga inside and 2 big nandi bulls outside . The park is big as well and many families were seated under large trees and having food.

A few hours drive from Bengaluru. Mesmerised by the architecture and stunning sculptures. Built in the 12th century, the temple has managed to retain its beauty. Very well maintained and clean. Not very crowded and not commercialised.
