Discover an amazing Animated Interior Tour In the Château's attics, you will learn all about King René d'Anjou, accompanied by the magic of sound, image and light. A great opportunity to rub shoulders with the great figures of history, including Joan of Arc and Philip the Good, and be swept back through time to the Hundred Years War, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Finally, experience the thrill of the arts of the era, with the medley of music, painting and poetry on the agenda. Discover an outstanding scenography The first floor of the Château is dramatised to present a few of the themes mentioned briefly above: the Anjou Dynasty, Anjou and Europe, the Age of Chivalry and the tournaments, Courtly love and the Cross of Anjou, later to become the Cross of Lorraine ! In july and august : english tour every day at 1:30 pm

We visited this as part of a combined ticket with the Apothecary. After a really excellent trip to the Apothecary we were very disappointed with this attraction. We had been warned that the guide could be in English but would be in French if any...More

We drove through Baugé on our way to Le Lude and were impressed by the chateau dominating the square (car park mainly) and vowed to return. However, when we spoke to the staff at the tourist information (located within the chateau) it seemed a lot...More

The outside looks lovely but there is little to see in the restricted parts you are allowed in. The displays are aimed at school children. We did really enjoy the apothecary and ancient hospital a few hundred metres down the road and the walk around...More

Chateau also contains excellent tourist office with helpful staff and you can buy a combined ticket with nearby apothecary in hotel de dieu. Unfurnished with well presented audio/visuals telling history of king rene of Anjou who build this as his hunting lodge

Lovely chateau housing the tourist information office. Well worth looking around. Dominates the centre of Bauge, perfect to step inside to have a break from the heat of the day.

An imposing facade but once inside the Revolution had the furniture and there's not much to see apart from a multi-media show in the chateau roof which recounts the history of one of the former occupants. Pass unless it's raining.

Although trying hard to promote the chateau with a warm welcome and delightful tour guide, it was not a very exciting place to visit. It is really just looking at an audio-visual and learning about the history of the chateau and its occupants. The rooms...More

The chateau was constructed in the 15th Century using part of the rampart from a fortification previously built here in the 11th Century. It is very interesting but non French speakers will find the 20 minute presentation of limited value as it is only available...More

We went here to seek some advice about visiting the Chateau and Apothecary. Both assistants spoke excellent English and were extremely helpful. We would like to thank them very much for their kindness because the tours that were run in English were over yet they...More
