Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a fun experience. There were tons of iguanas on the dock and even some seals lying out. Bring a snorkel and hop in to see fish, reef sharks, rays, and seals. Some seals were hanging out in the water and played around with us for a while. Just know, the water is COLD. I think it also has to do with time of year and I’m the kind of person that gets cold really easily in water, so just keep that in mind. Bring a towel and rash guard or wetsuit if you have one and want to be in for a while. I went in for 15-20 minutes and saw some stuff, but some people in my family weren’t feeling too cold and stayed in for 45 mins or so and saw more by the trees.

I’ve been twice so far on my trip. First time saw lots of fish second time saw starfish, giant tortoise and had a sea lion join for a swim. Deffo worth visiting on the island. Both times weren’t busy and it’s quite a large swimming zone anyway so lots to explore.

Great free snorkeling activity a 15 min walk from town, short bike ride or $5 taxi for 5 people.
In May of 2023, we swam with penguins, sea iguanas, fish and more! Good for 30min to 1 hour to get in from this small dock with locals and other visitors. Watch for strong currents but it does have warning signs to not go beyond certain points to keep you safe. Have fun meeting the local iguanas on the dock. Bring your snorkling gear, you do not need a wetsuit or flippers.

Better first thing in the morning. You do not need a guide or tour. Rent snorkel gear for the day $5.00 and head there on a 20 minute walk.

Saw one white tip shark and an eagle ray. Many smaller fish like parrot and puffers.

While there, on the platform, there are many sea lions and iguanas sleeping. Literally having to step over there.

I was traveling with a group and a few of us opted for an early morning watch of the sunrise from our hotel and then a stroll down to concha de Perla. Our goal was to see some starfish, and we did. One of us had snorkle gear, the others just regular swim goggles. We spotted starfish, had a marine iguanas swim towards us, and basically had a playdate with some very playful sea lions who swam circles around us. The water is so calm, and not too deep. It was high tide, and the bottom few steps off the dock were underwater. Was the absolute best way to wake up and start the day. Only one other couple was getting in the water just as we were heading out, but it was till only 730 am. Not sure how crowded it would be in th afternoons.

We were a family of 5 and went 3 times. Every time was a little different and worth all the visits. An amazing place that you can just walk to.

Wow! 10 mins walk from the town next to the harbour you walk through fantastic mangroves on a board walk stepping over sleeping sealions and marine iguanas. Go at low tide. We saw mating turtles, a shoal of 12 eagle rays, sting rays, swimming iguanas and huge shoals of fish. No need for a wetsuit nor flippers.

A local snorkelling spot by Villamill port. A nice boardwalk through the mangroves to access it. Go at low tide. We swam with iguanas and saw a sting ray/ sealions and many fish. We didn’t need a wetsuit. 10 minutes walk from the town centre.

"Excellent" doesn't begin to describe any experience in the Galapagos Islands. However, Concha de Perla (Conch of Pearl) is an area that encompasses not only Pearl Beach but a boardwalk through twisted mangroves a short distance from the Centro de Crianza Arnaldo Tupiza tortoise breeding center and leads to an open area called Poza Baltazar, described as a flamingo estuary. Granted, there are American flamingos there, but also several endemic waterfowl and marine iguanas, as well. Occasionally, you may have to step over or around a marine iguana sunning on the boardwalk.

Perfect lagoon for snorkeling. Lots of locals come here. We say a spotted ray and a chocolate chip starfish there in the crystal clear water. But go during low tide. The current is very strong during high tide and can wash you into the mangroves.
