Worth the five-minute stroll, if not to see the signpost of the southernmost point of the South Island, then to see the rugged beautiful cliffs and coastline, views to Stewart Island and the Southern Alps.

It’s worth the detour to visit the southernmost part of the mainland. All that’s there is a signpost but it’s worth it! You park at a car park and go for a walk through a paddock and out to the tip. It’s windy and cold...More

We drove down a gravel road to a parking lot where the sign directs you through a gate and advises to walk toward the ocean for 20 minutes. It really only took ten minutes to walk through the field to the point slope sign and...More

This is an easy stroll to the southern most edge of mainland NZ. Plenty of space in the car park, this seems to be off the main tourist trail and mercifully free of coach loads of selfie taking types. It's about 10 minutes to walk...More

A viewpoint at the Southern edge of the South Island. Ca 10 minutes walk from the car park. Not bad, you can make some very nice pictures there, but nothing that impressive. Pribably the most interesting are bushes and trees which are permanentky bended by...More

A 20 min flat paddock walk will take you right to the edge. Great photo opportunity with the sign. Sensational views. Great that the road is now sealed!

This is noted to be the Southern most tip of NZ and is a part of the outstanding scenic route through the "Catlins " region between Dunedin and Invercargill. This point is worth the side trip if for no other reason than the photo opportunity....More

We felt this was over rated, there was an ok view compared to other spots close by. Get a photo with the ‘south pole’ sign. Tick the box activity. Don’t go out of your way to go here
