John the Potter is a potter living and working in Betty's Bay and his gallery and studio which is on the main road of Betty's Bay is open to the public daily; his gallery has a large selection of his well known reduction fired work and also his raku work. It is a great space to see John's work and to meet him and see him at work in his studio, a must see for all Betty's Bay visitors

I have over the years bought a lot of Johns work and decided to go get some more this last Easter weekend. Unfortunately John and his head potter were in a accident in December and the gallery was closed. This did not deter us from...More

I don't know all the terms, but various glazes, clay and designs. Many variation, all beautiful. From large, metre high clay heads to tiny salt bowls. Really beautiful and very reasonably priced for hand-made artisinal craft.

At the time of our visit, John the Potter was not in, but his assistant showed us around while we selected some beautiful items to buy.

We stopped by on our way back from viewing the pigeons and picked up some lovely unusual pieces. The old gentleman that served us was delightful. They have two working kilns on site apparently.

We stopped at John the Potter on new year's day - thanks for being open! Beautiful pottery - mainly crockery, mugs, bowls - at reasonable prices. We stocked up and are really happy with our purchases. Will be back for more!

Good potter but would be more worthwhile if you know what exactly you want before you walk in. Not really a browsing venue, but would be good if you seeking something specific. So more a destination venue.
