About
Bannockburn House has survived largely unchanged since the 17th century apart from a Victorian extension. After over 50 years of dormancy the house and grounds were bought by the local community in December 2017. The house is being repaired and conserved for future generations to enjoy. Our volunteers run a programme of tours, open days and events. Keep an eye out for public tours and other events available for booking at https://www.bannockburnhouse.scot/our-events/

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a place ! You need to book a wee visit here is you are ever in the area. Even if you are not, check the website for the events and include it in a visit. It’s so totally worth it. The atmosphere on the house is amazing and the surroundings are beautiful.

Visited for a 'tricks and treats' halloween event for children.
The event was fantastic. Some real life family friendly ghostbusting (so fun) and a chance to explore this amazing house. Lots of activities for the children and the place was looking super spooooky.
Love to support this house when I can that's being lovingly restored for all to enjoy by a group of passionate and dedicated volunteers.
Left with a big smile on my face looking forward to my next visit!

A must for a visit. I have been for a tour and also to the paranormal evening at Halloween. I will be booking my tickets for Christmas and for other events that come up. Happy to support and contribute to the restoration of this historical house. Looking forward to seeing you again

The house is in a very poor state of repair but the army of volunteers are working hard to restore it; they have been working on it for 5 years after about many years of abandonment. Seeing what they are up against is in itself really interesting and we will follow their progress with interest.
The star guide for us was Catherine, who talked about clothing and the laundry and then about the kitchen.
And tea and home-made cakes was a lovely bonus!

I immensely enjoyed the tour of this house. The guides were so informative, knowledgeable and entertaining. They really managed to convey a sense of history as regards the building and its owners and also the way of life of ordinary people through the centuries, especially those involved in "downstairs" work in the laundry and kitchen. The grounds are very well-kept. An extra treat was the free tea/coffee and biscuits and cake at the end of the tour.

This was a great day out, and we enjoyed learning all about the history of Bannockburn House. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, and the tea with cake at the end was very welcome! It's an old house, which is a work in progress, so it was good to support something of such historical value to the area.

Fantastic place to visit! The volunteers are very knowledgable about the history of the house and the local history. The tour of the washroom was the highlight for me, so great to see so many original features. Added bonus that you got tea and a cake at the end in the original drawing room!

Hi Sharon,
If you travel to Cumbernauld on the A73, then join the M80 and head towards Stirling. Take exit 9 to Stirling and at the roundabout take the exit to A91 and Bannockburn House is the first turning on the right, it is a small sign so you may miss it.
