Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It's one of the oldest monasteries in Strumica region. Dates back from the 11th century. It has preserved its original architecture and is the only such 11th century building in Macedonia. I recommend it as place where everyone can find something nice: history, peace of mind, a beautiful view...I'm not a religious, but want to go there to spend a time with my friend Ksenija. She is a nun there and in charge of welcoming the guests. I enjoy listening to her while telling the history of the monastery.

This monastery is an active women's monastery, perfectly preserved, despite being around ten centuries old. The interior of the church was painted with frescoes in several periods, many of which are well preserved. Access to the monastery is via a narrow road through the village, but without major difficulties.

The name means the Holy Mother of God, the Merciful.
This small, ancient (11th century, I think) Byzantine monastery is famous all over Macedonia, and attracts many pilgrims. The frescoes and mosaics in the cool, dark inside are fascinating - one is of a twelve year old Jesus - and there's a breathtakingly beautiful icon of the Virgin and Child.
At least one of the nuns speaks fluent English.
The monastery gardens are wonderful. To my mind the ancient decorative brickwork here is even lovelier than in Gracanica, perhaps because the building is so much more modest in size.

We visited the Monastery of Eleusa this November and we fell in love with this holy place. It is so authentic, such solitude and energy in this place. A nun told us about the history of the monastery through the years. Anyone visiting this region should definitely go there and feel this place.

This monastery is off the beaten path and may even be a little hard to find..but it's worth it! Have a little adventure, be brave, see the horse drawn carts working in the fields...on your way to this place. It is beautiful inside..simple, but very interesting.

Old church, good nature. Elevated above the plains, you can see far, and free your mind.
Narrow streets to get there but it's worth it.

A wonderful spiritual place full of silence, tranquility, stunning views and wonderful people. It is obligatory to visit it if you are in the region. It is worth buying splendid souvenirs made in the monastery and hand-made soap.
