Good value with about a £5 entry fee. Lots to see, with great walks around the battlements giving fantastic views in all directions up and down the valleys. Must be even more spectacular in the spring when the rivers are full (due to drought they are now just little streams).
Lots of Crag Martins and House Martins nesting in the old stone walls - great to see about a hundred of them all mobbing a Kestrel which flew too close to the nests.

We spent almost 3 hours walking around this castle which allows visitors into different rooms and towers. The exhibits were interesting and informative and we were amazed there weren't more people around. The visit totally exceeded our expectations. The town outside the castle is also worth walking around. A memorable experience and the best €4 per person we have spent to date on our holiday in Italy!

This castle is already a delight to approach from several directions as you see it grow larger. Its mounting from the environment on a big rock that is all jaspis! Not expensive to visit, guided tours are in Italian only I am afraid. BUt you might find someone to translate. All the torturing equipment still ready to go in the cellars. brrrr....

Visited Bardi Castle whilst staying at Cal Del Grano B+B. 7 euros for admission which I thought was very reasonable. The castle is impressive from outside and even more so within. There is room after room unfortunately the information inside was not English although were given an English information sheet at ticket office with some historical information which was useful. There is a toilet at bottom of castle use before you ascend. There is no cafe in castle which is a shame as they have room to provide reshreshments but appreciate that taking provisions in good be be difficult. There is a car park next to castle entrance. There are no disable facilities. The views from the very top are magnificent and very much worth the visit.

Amazing castle, very well cared to have an interesting jump in the middle age. The tour let you visit all the maain premises of the fortress and other extra, such as excellent collection of interesting exibithions (old style houses furnituring, old job tools, chasing museum, collection of pre-historical items of the area, etc.).
A "must to see" for the tourist crossing this area: even if it takes at least 4 hours overall (2h travel back and forth the highway plus 2 hours of visit), it's really worthing!!

Probably very beautiful, but we'll never know.
We went there with an elderly lady, who can walk on plain grounds but couldn't make it up the steep slopes bringing up to the Castle.
We asked the ticket kiosk if there was any service available for her - like a kart, a scooter, a wheelchair service. Short answer: "no."

It was probably our fault.

We should have surveyed the place before, understanding it's not a place for the elder.

On the other hand, in most parts of the civilized world, nowadays, it's absolutely common to find the kind of services we were expecting. I wouldn't have minded paying an extra fee for it.

Summarizing: all the other wonderful reviews of the place are probably true and deserved, but if you plan to go with elderly people, please think again!

Especially if you want to go with elderly people AND children: the fact Grandma cannot walk up the Castle spoils everything :(

An interesting, multi-layered old castle which reflects the changing periods of history that passed through the town. It's worth the modest entrance fee to tour the entire complex.

Here for two weeks and loving every moment. The castle is pure delight. It nestles high up a hill and is beautiful. There's a festival today in Bardi with food, dancing etc. Will return again

Great historical venue with fantastic photo opportunities.

FREE Car parking available in the town square with plenty of small shops and restaurants available in the small high street. When you come from a country who charges for parking if you car stalls it is delightful to find free parking across much of this region.

NOTE FREE wi-fi offered outside the tourist centre next to town square.

Allow two - three hours to visit the castle there is so much to see, many of the rooms have been recreated to provide an insight into the workings of the castle. TIP wear comfortable shoes as there is a lot of walking and some of the inclines are steep and steps are plentiful!. However it should be noted where possible slopes have been accommodated to facilitate wheel chairs and prams.

A guide leaflet is provided on entry and assists the visit and understanding the history and layout of the castle.

A beautiful piece of history with panoramic views across rolling countryside.

A must visit for photographers, historians and all tourists to the area.

NOTE there are toilets in the venue but no opportunities to get a drink so you should consider taking a bottle of water on a warm day.

Entry 6 Euro per adult
