If you want to go to the beach but the seemingly endless line of beach clubs along the coast at Viareggio fills you with horror or despair then Baratti might be the antidote. Baratti beach has a mix of public and private beach areas but large swathes of it are public. You access the beach via a short walk through... More

Golden sandy beach ( the sand quite literally sparkles ) , very small and not overcrowded with tourists , mostly local Italians with kids , therefore makes it very special and relaxing. You can put all your blankets and picnic just 50 metres away from the water in Pine Paradise ( gives lovely shade and wonderful breeze ) If you... More

During our road trip we went twice to this beautiful beach. The sand is fine, everything was clear and the coast goes slightly deeper. Perfect for people who don't like to much trouble at the beach. The trees behind the coast spend shade, so it is not necessary to rent a something. We will recomend it!

Park in the car walk across the open grass. Get to the beach and turn left and walk. This will take you away from the 'formal' Parasols and loungers which have to paid for. The beach is free and full of Italians because it is picturesque and great for swimming. Sea was very warm in August and a great day... More

Headed down from near Pisa for a half day on the beach. This is a beautiful setting and although crowded, we had a great few hours here. We loved the beachcomber/ hippie style of the privately owned section of Baratti beach which has lovely guys working there, the usual umbrellas and pedalloes etc and a very cool beach bar with... Excellent place to go out with friends and business partners. Gorgeous sandy beach and rustic beach bar nicely complement each other. Highly recommended to visit!

I was dissapointed for this visit because at the time we entered to beach shore area was full of grass derbis so water was unclean. Also urine smelled at the beach quite strongly maybe from bushes due lack of toilets or info where those are. We didn't dare to walk with bare foot due some broken glass pieces was found... More

The place is beautiful, you feel you are going back more than a century. BUT the choice of food for lunch is very limited and not particularly good, just average. As for the ice cream and pastries some are good, most are not and they are expensive.

It is an accessible beach for people to enjoy the sea especially in the summer . It is surrounded by a beautiful nature reserve and it is close to the Etruscan archeological sites . It is close to cafes in the beach or one at the archeological site . It is a great day trip if coming from the Tuscan... More
