Nice water-fall. You just have to walk some distance in but it is worth it. When we went , not much water , but if after or during rain , I guess the water- falls will have lots more water. Need to wear sturdy, track...More

One of the Catlins 3 main pretty waterfalls with a lovely forest walk which is just as nice as Matai falls. Unfortunately Purakaunui is very crowded so it definately detracts from the beauty of the place, as does the large number or European backpackers that...More

The falls are not spectacular or impressive. There are many other waterfalls in New Zealand that are more central and much more impressive.

Unfortunately, this time of year the water going over the falls is low, but is quite a magical place with only a ten minute walk. The platform takes you under the falls but you can still scramble on rocks if you want.

Our visit was in November when there had been reasonable rains but the weather was lovely. The walk was easy and enjoyable and the falls well worth the effort. We stayed and relaxed the falls for some time. It was almost hypnotic in the best...More

Enjoyed the detour to visit these waterfalls. Not so much water flowing over the falls due to dry conditions. Would be more impressive after rain no doubt. Nice walk through the forest to visit the falls. We personally found Maclean falls (nearby) to be more...More

Well worth the short 10 minute walk to see. There are 2 viewing positions the lower on giving the full view of the falls. Nice spot

It was a pleasant walk to the falls but the falls wasn’t fantastic. Probably due to summer where the water level was lower?
