I think we've been a bit spoiled by the waterfalls we've seen recently on some of the great walks. These ones were pretty small and murky by comparison. It was a nice easy walk and not too far out of the way if you're heading...More

Very easy gentle walk into the falls. The bush along the walk is just so primeval, you can really imagine how huge amounts of New Zealand must have been like before Humans arrived.

This is a nice short walk through a very pretty forested area, before you reach the falls. Well worth the detour off the main road, but you do go on a gravel road for a while.

A relaxing walk through the forest brings you to the falls. There are a few steps to negotiate but no problems. We experienced plenty of water coming down the falls. A lovely outing.

You have to turn down from the main road and drive 9km to the carpark. It's only 15min walk to the waterfall and back. Nice and easy walk.

Worth the walk and track not difficult. Some good forest photos on the way and the Falls worth photographing.

Very nice waterfalls in beautiful surrounding. If you are lucky and it got lots of water, perhaps after some rainy days, it is fantastic. A must-do in the catlins.

We decided to travel on the scenic southern route from Invercargill to Dunedin. One of our stops along the way was the Purakaunui Falls. A short 10 minute trip thru a rain forest leads you to these stunning falls. There are higher water falls but...More
