Beautiful rainforest, easy walk to the falls except the end of the trail is a bit steep. The falls would have been prettier with more water.

After a winding gravel track, parking and a short bush walk, you are rewarded with a breathtaking waterfall. Not the biggest or most powerful by any stretch of the imagination, but the tranquility of the glade which houses it transports and relaxes you. Definitely book...More

After a nice but not always easy walk you will reach this fascinating waterfall. It comes down in different steps and it´s really great to watch and walking around on the stones.

We had a 3 kilometre drive in our motorhome along a gravel road until we reached the largish car park which is the start of this walk. The 30 minute walk to the falls (we were very slow!) enable us to take in the beautiful...More

The best waterfall in the Catlins especially in summer when there hasn’t been a lot of rain! Still very impressive and worth the 15/20 minute walk there Can be steep in parts and slippy underfoot when it’s been raining

A short and easy walk to the falls, definitely worth a visit, it had rained quite heavy the night before so the falls were gushing. Excellent clean toilets in the car Park!

Whilst Purakaunui Falls are more popular I prefer these falls. IMO they are more impressive and interesting with a tall waterfall flowing into a smaller cascade. The walk to them is a little longer at around 30 mins but also nicer and less muddy.

So many beautiful waterfalls at the Catlins to be visited, but McLean is the most amazing at all in that area! If you don’t have enough time, choose this one!

Another one to put on your to-do list. A very pleasant bush track walk leads to the falls - fab photo opportunities all around. The last section is wet with some rocky parts so if you take your granny be sure to give her a...More
