For Balmuri falls, the photo speak of themselves. Its a fun place for all age, bathing in the Cauvery river water. Its a actually a check damn with water over flowing. You can choose to either go up to the check dam or just stay in the shallows. Nevertheless some waterproof footwear is recommended as the river bed is full of stones (some sharp ones and some slippery ones). There is not much food options around except for few fish stalls etc. Please do carry drinking water and some umbrella (if you don't plan to take a dip) as it gets pretty hot in the noon and there is not much shade available, guess mornings would be a good time to visit here.

This is just an ok ok artificial falls. For kids it is fun to play in water. I went solo, hence couldn't enjoy there.
Access to this falls is easy. Parking charges applicable. Food options also available. You can visit temple if interested. Dress change facilities available for both males & females.
Ranganathittu - Balmuri Falls - Brindavan Gardens is on the same stretch. Plan your journey accordingly.

It is one of my favourite spots around Mysore. We visit the place with friends and guests occasionally. Boating and exploring the place around is great fun when lots of water in river Kaveri. But my concern is safety and cleanliness. Can be improved and maintained.

We had been there in July this year. There was very little water, may be because of late onset of monsoon this year.
But the disappointment came from the lack of maintenance of the falls. There are numerous plastic and floating paper which gave us cold shivers and prevented from getting into the water. There is also an unhygienic stench which takes the charm away.
The biggest issue that i saw was lack of safety precautions. We found only one passage to get down into the water flow, but that was very narrow, studded with slippery algae and with rocks on either side to hurt you badly in case you slip and fall. So with kids, its a clear no-no to get down.
The only positive aspect was presence of a decently maintained toilet at such a remote location.
I had been there as a student more than a decade ago. It was wonderful back then. But was really disappointing this time.

This place is very nice for half a day picnic. It is on the bank of Cauvery river. You can walk across the river and on the man made falls top and take a bath in the small falls which is absolutely safe. Need to be little careful while walking across the river as there are cracks and pits in which you may slip your leg and get hurt. There is an old temple also which has step access to the river. If you wish you can take a small trip in teppa(round boat).
Most of the food stalls are selling fish hence vegetarians will not like to buy anything there. Better to carry the food from home or buy on the way.

Crowded like Ant circling its dead pray....Have never seen such a dirtiest waterfall that, it was visible to see dirts flowing with water through naked eyes...
Different pics in website and reality is totally different...
Most of the tourist were only boys & Men & all wearing only underwear and very very less female are spoted. Cant even step without touching others.
Overall not safe for a decent family members who visit with wife or daughters.

We went in the month of August
The water level was high, barricades are being installed by authority.
You can enjoy the view and relax for few mins or just like us find a low water level place far from the actual attraction point and have fun!

Belmuri falls is one of the beautiful destination for locals and tourists who visit Mysore. This water falls is one of the most popular spots to hang around in summers as it is surrounded by fresh stream of water. The waterfalls make it an excellent getaway from the mad city rush and scorching summer.
Balmuri is a man-made reservoir few kilometers away from Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary, eighteen kilometers away from Mysore on the way to Krishna Raja Sagar Dam. As the river turns to the right at this place it is called as “Balamuri”, “Bala” means right and “Muri” means cut in Kannada. This is a small but beautiful falls surrounded by palms, paddy fields and a small island.
BalmuriFalls are the creation of the check dam constructed on river Cauvery. The total length of the check dam is 1.6 Km & at a particular spot in the Balmuri, there is step of about 6 feet from which creates the effect of a mini-waterfall and it is relatively safe to enjoy playing in the water here. One cannot expect gushing water. It is a good picnic spot & one can swim, play, sit or walk around there. This place is famous for the shooting of Kannada movies, many popular songs are shot here.
Edmuri falls is about five hundred feet to the east of Balmuri falls and is a good spot to swim and play some games in the water under the scorching summer sun, taking a trip to the waterfalls would be quite invigorating experience. One can also visit the K.R.S Dam in the evening. It’s just eight kilometers from Belmuri falls.
Road conditions till Mysore are good, but going five kilometers from the main road was pathetic and there are no arrangements for visitors to stay in the evening. Around three thousand people from different parts visit the place on weekends and enjoy in fresh water stream, which is good for health and is an adventurous place. Karnataka tourism can build some cottages or guest house, deploy security & promote tourism in an efficient way.

This is a small water fall that is located very close to the KRS. It might just be OK to stop here on the way to KRS and spend some time. It is worth only during the monsoon when there is plenty water or else it is just like a pond. The water is smelly and there is absolutely no amenities. All we get to see is some unhygienic fish stalls and some small shops selling chips and so on.
These fish stall owners wash their utensils in this dirty water and we can imagine what kind of fish they serve.
Just stop by if you need a small break when you go to KRS and nothing more.

Is it worth to visit in the mid of May? How will be the water level?
Written 28 April 2019
Yes. Water flows over this man-made concrete dam throughout the year. The dam holds water to provide irrigation water via a canal. People come here in large numbers throughout the year for relaxation.

How far is the place from Bengaluru city railway station? Is the place suitable for the family members and what is the package cost? Like to know the details and contact person number. Thanks and Regards,

Well the Balmuri falls is roughly 150 km from the Bangalore station. Honestly the place is overcrowded so if you like hustle-bustle you sure can visit it. Considering its a fall, people only come there to bathe or take a dip in the water. Other than that there is nothing around that place except for few small restaurants.
We hired a cab to cover mysore, srirangapatna, Balmuri falls it costed us around 5k however I'm Not sure about the exclusive price of Balmuri falls.
