If you want some exercise, great views, nature (the monkeys) and history, this is the place to go! Feeding the monkeys is a great way to commune with nature and seeing the lighthouse and the museum give you the history. It is always pretty busy so try and get their early.

Drove there from Kuala Lumpur in afternoon before fireflies watch.A little of hike needed. If you feeling lazy to walk, well you can buy a tourist train ticket. In Bukit Melawati are found relics of the past, including the protective walls of the fort, the palace ground, a Altingsburg's lighthouse, royal graves, seven walls, a flat stone used for beheading... What an experience the Silver leafed monkeys were, they're so friendly that they sit on your shoulder whilst your feeding them. However, the diet of the monkeys is much desired At Bako National Park the ranger stipulated that no sweet, salty, or bread products should be feed to the monkeys. It's a pity this isn't enforced at this park. The... More

Loved the visit here, as don't often like to interact with wild animals but these monkeys are so friendly and you can buy food to feed them. They'll sit on your shoulders quite happily - such an awesome experience. Go with a guide, as they know the best time to see the monkeys and have experience of how to behave... More

I love to snap pictures with them as they sit on my shoulder. They are safe, but my son was bitten by one the monkeys. It was... More

It is incredible place, because we saw a very friendly, sweet silver leaf monkeys. You can buy a some food for their, for example bananas, Stalks of plants, and feed them from yours hands. Monkeys come to you, and jump on you.. This place will be interesting all family, especially children.

Bukit Melawati is an old British fort at the Selangor Coast line. On the bottom left of the hill you will find a welcome center and they do guided tours (mainly for school classes). On the hill you find nature with old trees and famous black monkeys. These monkeys are much more friendly than the red/brown ones. Buy some food... More

Bukit Melawati (Melawati Hill) is one of the attractions not to be missed in Kuala Selangor, once the administrative centre of the state of Selangor (circa late 18th century till early 19th century). For those who do not wish to hike up the hill, there's a tram that takes you there for RM3.20 (that's less than 1USD). I'm not sure... More

A day trip to Kuala Selangor will not be complete without a visit to this historical hill. It was once a fortress and a ghostly place where convicts were beheaded. Centuries later, It has now became a famous place to enjoy the picturesque view of the straits of Malacca, or having a playful evening with the monkeys. There is a... More
