Bob brings the battlefield alive - his website is aptly named. His research into my grandfathers recruitment, arrival at the front, his first action, his evacuation and ultimate death was meticulous. At almost every road corner he will point out interesting facts. Bob's knowledge is encyclopaedic and well presented. I recommend you engage Bob as your guide. If you don't... More

My husband and I have toured the WW1 Battlefields twice with Bob and each time was excellent. Bob creates tours relevant to what you want to see rather than a generic tour for everyone. We were amazed at the information Bob was able to find for us and to be able to walk along the trenches where our grand fathers... More

A long time reviewer on TripAdvisor and a resident of California, I went first to the TripAdvisor site to find a great guide for our visit to Albert to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the Battle of the Somme. And find one I did! We had three ancestors whose steps we (my husband, my Welsh dad, and I) wished... More

I have an uncle buried in France. He died in 1917 during one of many assaults on Vimy Ridge. My goal was to pay him a visit prior to 100th anniversary of the end of WW1 and with that in mind I sought the services of a guide that could take me to his gravesite and the Canadian Memorial at... More

We booked a two day tour with Bob to cover both Ypres and the Somme. Bob provides a high level of research for customers with relatives who were involved in the conflict. Our tour was tailored to locations referenced in the written account that my grandfather gave of his period in the Somme. Bob gave us detailed maps with billet... More

Bob gave Jenny and I an excellent afternoon private tour of the main battle sites of the Ypres Salient. Bob's knowledge and his explanatory materials enabled us to comprehend what the books simply cannot convey. The true scale of the horror that took place over such a relatively small piece of land over the four years of WWI. I challenge... More

We were well pleased with three days spent in the company of Bob Findley. He managed to bring the scenery to life, offering an insight which we would never have found without a good guide. We have returned home better informed and with an interest that we wish to follow up with further visits to the battlefields. Bob made a... More

We visited Fromelles to pay respects to a relative who fought and perished in the Battle of Frommelles, We used Bob's service to visit many of the key landmarks in the area and found him to be extremely knowledgable in all aspects of the Great War, particularly the area around Fromelles. Not only was he able to pick us up... More

3 mates and I engaged Bob's excellent services over 3 days, 2 days in and about Flanders and one day on the Somme, in May 2015. Whilst Bob's general knowledge of all things WW1 is extraordinary, he takes time to research your particular interests and requirements so that your tour with him is personalised to you. He was able to... More
