"A must way to get to the main piazza of Capri!!"
My husband & I were on vacation to Sorrento and took the ferry over to Capri/Anacapri for a day trip. This was the first time riding the Funicular (Tram) so we really didn't know where to purchase tickets. We first went to the Tram area & a gentleman told us to go across the street to the ticket office, which was very crowded, and had such a long line. We purchased our tickets to go up to the main piazza in the upper Capri area but when we got back to the loading area of the Tram, there was such a big crowd. The ride up was reasonable priced and was a smooth ride which only took about 5 minutes. What a view from the top of the main area of Capri! We had tickets for a roundtrip ride so when we were ready to return down to the Marina Grande it was not so crowded as before.

A great way to get to Capri town
There is a bit of queue and buying tickets is a bit confusing. The ticket office is away from the tram. Of course there is a mad rush to get onto the tram, but the trip is only 5 mins. A good way to avoid the steep walk.

    Ticket office hidden away
It is not easy to find the ticket office for the funicular ! When you get off the boat, walk to the right, where you will see the arched entrance to the funicular itself. Carry on past here, where you see a white rounded edge bar called "Bar Grotto", the ticket office is roughly opposite here, tucked away slightly. There are three queues, two for funicular and one for buses only - make sure you get the right queue. There are so many people around it makes it difficult to see signs etc.. Once you get ypur ticket head across to thefunicular entrance. The queue moves relatively quickly and you put your ticket into a turnstile. The ride itself has some good views and at the top there are toilets just outside of where you come out.

The funicular is very easy to use.
The funicular is very easy to use, but you MUST buy your ticket FIRST. The ticket office is to the right of the port exit (if you arrive by ferry). I saw many people get angry because they waited in line without buying their tickets first. Don't be those tourists! On the way down, the ticket office and ferry line are the same building.

    Amazing views
Great screen views. I recommend visiting early morning. We were there by 9:30. From the Ferry port first purchase your lift tickets. I believe 2.40 euros one way. Get round trip. After cable, next go to bus station and purchase tickets (round trip). Once at the top hop on (14 euros) and enjoy. You can relax and have a snack and take pictures at the very top.

Trip up was pleasant and efficient. Trip down was a monumental waste of time. The q was not particularly long, people wise, but the organisation was appalling/non existent. Organisers of trips were taking their groups through a "back door" leaving everyone else to wait. Local officials watched on and relaxed in the sun. I'll walk down next time rather than subject my self to such a lack of respect from local officials and tour organisers.

The funiculare itself was well- organized even though there was a long line, it moved very quickly. Once on board, prepare to drink in the views in the comfort of the ride.

It went up nicely and wasn’t too busy. Down went well too. Overall a fun funicular experience all round. Get tickets as soon as you get off boat

Very crowded, long lines to get on both at the top and the bottom. Plan accordingly if you have a boat to catch.
