- Neil BNewcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom1 contributionTickets now too expensiveHonest feedback, now the park is now designed for small children shouldn’t the ticket prices for adults be reduced? Adult tickets were £13.50 in September 2019 and included the 5/6 thrill rides you had then. Prices are now over double if you pay on the day and the only good ride left is Eagles ClawHi Neil, Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We are saddened to hear that you are unhappy with our price guide, however, with over 40 rides and attractions, including the UK's largest Tree Top Trails Adventure Nets and a full programme of daily entertainment, albeit being tailored to the under 12s, we do believe that with what we have to offer, there is something for the whole family to enjoy here at Lightwater Valley Family Adventure Park. - Lorraine WNewcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom3 contributionsWasted day!We visited on the first day they opened Saturday 25th March. It started off well with a lovely warm greeting and pictures with the Dragon an new dinosaurs. We headed straight for the train to go to skeleton cove. Since the park was quite quiet we didn’t have to queue, however some staff members refused to let some of group on the rides even though they were tall enough! When challenged by this I kept getting told these were the rules! I paid full price for all the children in the group as they were over 90cm. With now screaming/crying children we headed to The Grill Cafe for some Lunch only to find that it was serving drinks only. We headed back to the start of the park to get some lunch there. The fish and chips counter was incredibly fast and the food was prepared and served efficiently, however the counter next to it which served hot dogs and chicken nuggets were so slow. It took nearly 40 minutes for the food to be served only to find that the orders weren’t taken correctly and the wrong food was given and the chips were cold. We then had to wait another 10 minutes for these to be corrected! After lunch the weather changed and it rained quite heavily. So now when we headed back off to try and go on some rides we found that these were now closed due to the weather. We paid a lot of money as there was 7 of us and the kids barely got to go on any rides! Such a shame as we travels 1hr and 40 minutes to get there!Hi Lorraine, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your recent experience was anything less than exceptional. As we have been communicating with you via email, you will be aware that we are investigating the issues raised. - Rosina H8 contributionsIt isn't worth the money.I visited today with my 6 year old. I love Lightwater Valley and I've been going for many years. I have to say I was shocked by the cost of the entrance fee but decided to pay it anyway. I was disappointed. It is expensive for what it is. To be fair my son had a lovely day which was the most important thing but the entrance fee for the rides available is disappointing. The majority of the food outlets were closed too and the ones available were super expensive. I had to pay extra for a few crispy onions on a vegan dog. The game stands were all closed next to the twister. Its sad to see the park now in comparison to its former glory. The restaurant was all closed up and now sells drinks only. The old ultimate station remains but looks tired. The place was empty too :(. For the current prices I can't honestly say that I would return. It's an expensive day out for beautiful surroundings and a handful of rides. The staff were lovely and it's clear that everyone is doing their best. The park needs some proper investment but giving the repairs for the Ultimate not being possible big investment seems unlikely here and without the Ultimate the place doesn't have the same appeal. Thanks for the memories LWV, if prices do go down we'd be happy to return.Dear Roisin, Thanks for taking the time to leave us your honest review. We are of course very disappointed that you feel the way you do about the content of our Family Adventure Park. We are very proud of what we do and this year have worked hard to pack in even more, with a full Entertainment programme, new adventures and activities such as the welcome return of the Skate Karts, the new Woodland Drivers, our Rex the Valleysaurus 'Meet and Eat' show, and activities such as Workshops, Dino Dig, and our interactive digital trail where the children can find Rex's breakfast. Thanks for your comments about our LWV team of 2023 too - It's great that they were working hard to make yours and your 6 year old's day a special one. Please do look out for offers and value deals throughout the year - it does pay to come out of peak season, and book in advance to get the best prices on tickets and meal deals. - duane0791Harrogate, United Kingdom10 contributionsWorst dayThe site is showing signs of aging cracked paint and broken masonry. Many rides gone but not replaced. When they are replaced it’s with cheap sets, such as the Alice in wonderland. Food wise 15 minted for a pancake and received a tasteless piece of thin batter, hot chocolate was like warm water, girl behind the counter said “sorry it’s been like that all day” then to top it of, when we go to the exit of a ride to use the disability pass, the staff member “Tony” tells us to join the back of the cue as he doesn’t care for disabled. At that point the day was done!!!Dear Duane, We are really saddened by your review. We are immensely proud of our park and what we do here, and it is clear that your experience yesterday was not how we do things. The incident you quote on the ride, the substandard crepe and the quality of the hot chocolate are all incidents I have investigated. I have spoken to our Visitor Experience Manager who informs me that you came to our Guest Services desk to raise the issue you had on the tractor ride with our operator, Tony. I can only apologise for his reaction to you - we certainly DO have a specific way that we deal with wrist band wearers, and you should have been welcomed through the designated gate, and it appears that Tony thought you were one of a group of particularly challenging guests who visited us yesterday. It appears that Tony had reached the end of his tether, and reacted in the way he did through frustration. Clearly, there is no excuse for that kind of behaviour, and we have taken this up with our rides team. Contrarily, Tony actually received an award yesterday for superb service from another guest yesterday, so please do believe me when I say this is completely out of character from a valued member of our team. I know that our Visitor experience Manager has arranged for a return visit - please do accept my apologies for the situation, and I do hope that you will return to our Park and have a great day on your return to us. - Beata F1 contributionGood day out weather permitsPrices are not thought carefully .Not enough rides for adults for the full adult price (2in total) and overpriced ( full adult price ) for children up age of 6 due to hight restriction. My granddaughter was not able to go on half of the rides, meanwhile we paid full adult price for her. Overall we made it a nice day out but left a bit disappointedDear Beata, Thanks for taking the time to review us here at Lightwater Valley Family Adventure Park. I am glad you had a nice day, but am disappointed that you feel there are not enough rides for adults here at our Park. As you know, we do not profess to be a Thrill Seeker's destination, but an Adventure Park for Families of all ages. Your 6 year old would have been able to go on most of our rides accompanied by an adult - at least 25 fun rides are available to this height, but I do concede that she would have needed to be accompanied - we are all about creating smiles and memories as a family. We also have all our other activities such as Skate Karts, our treetop nets and of course all our Trails and entertainment programmes too. We do have some rides that are clearly for the older teens and adults, such as The Claw and Dragon Drop, not forgetting our roller coaster 'The Ladybird' and our 'First Coaster' the Caterpillar for our younger visitors. I am glad you had a nice day, but we really don't want you to feel disappointed in any way. We would love to see you back - please email us at hello@lightwatervalley.co.uk, and our visitor experience team will be in touch. - Catherine F72 contributionsExpensive and not as many rides as I was hoping forVisited the theme park today and made the most of it before the rain came in at 1pm, I can't imagine many rides would be open in the rain and little else to do in that situation. Anyway it was very expensive to get in, £110 for two adults and two children. The first port of call was crazy golf, but we're told that was extra which did hit a nerve after the debit card took a hit of £110. The kids enjoyed the day to be fair, but as adults I think we look around with a more critical eye, there's not actually that many rides really, but alot of walking to do between them. The the park looks big and feels big but things are very spaced out. I'd say there's plenty of under 5 rides for the little ones but not so many for older children or adults.Dear Catherine, Thanks for your review, and your feedback, which is appreciated. Yesterday was indeed a wet day, and we changed our Entertainment programme around so Rex and many of our outdoor activities and entertainment could still be enjoyed under cover. We have over 40 rides and attractions, and indeed some are affected, but we hope there is plenty to do despite the weather! So pleased that your kids enjoyed the day - we do hope you can join you on a dry day to enjoy the park to its fullest, Victoria Guest Services TeamWritten 14 April 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 12 April 2023
- Danielle W1 contributionNot what it once was …..The site itself could do with an update. However it is clean and the area well landscaped. This site is aimed at up-to 12yrs, I’d probably say more suited to 6 - 10yrs. It’s a massive shame for families who have teenage children as well as under 10’s. Even a couple of bigger rides to provide an experience for all, otherwise I would suggest lowering the price of over 12’s tickets as they are essentially bystanders paying full price. I wouldn’t go back as there are plenty of sites which offer something for everyone at a similar price. I wouldn’t advise visiting with under 12’s unless you live local, it wasn’t really worth the travel or money. Such a shame.Dear Danielle, Thanks so much for taking the time to review us. We are indeed now a Family Adventure Park aimed at families with children under 12, but many of our guests do say that there is plenty to do for all the family too - tweens and teens having fun with their siblings and other family members, or even enjoying the larger rides on their own. Thanks for the feedback - it is appreciated. - Shelly C8 contributionsShame about the food and loosWe came as a family of 5. Myself and my partner brought our Australian niece and nephews for a day out. The rides were amazing, shows great and staff lovely. The only let downs were the toilets and food. The toilets were disgusting and smelt foul. As for the food there was nothing to choose from other than processed food. Nothing fresh and healthy for those who have allergies. We ordered from the cafe anyway and we waited 45mins for a jacket potato, a toastie and beans on toast. When they finally arrived the food was cold and unappealing. The park wasn't busy at all. The excuse was we are training new staff and they have no idea what they are doing. Safe to say the 3 customers in the cafe complained and we all got refunds as the food was beyond edible. We had to leave the park to feed the kids and come back. As stated the staff were lovely just a shame that they feel its ok to sell beans on toast for £5 that was cold, mouldy and 45 mins late.Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to leave us an honest review - we really do appreciate all feedback we receive from our guests. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our rides and entertainment!! We pride ourselves on customer service, so it is great to hear that our staff were lovely - thank you for your kind words! It is disappointing to hear that our Facilities and Food and Beverage offerings had such a negative impact on your visit to us. We would like to apologise for the level of service and the quality of food you received - I can assure you this is not up to our usual standards. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, I will be sure to pass your comments onto our Food and Beverage Manager to investigate and action accordingly. Furthermore, we would also like to express our apologies regarding our toilets - our Facilities Team are continually praised on their cleanliness, so it is saddening to hear that the usual standard had slipped when you visited. Regarding our food options, we do have several options for those with specific dietary requirements. I am so sorry if these were not explained or displayed well enough, this is something we can certainly look into and improve. - Gemma_Louise2014Newcastle, United Kingdom9 contributionsGoing down hillFamily of 6 high prices for families for what's there. We used to love this place but seems like it's sadly gone down hill... shut down rides and alot of waste land. Not a great deal there...then when we went to the grill and ordered the 4.95 hotdogs the lad said we couldn't have it as it was 6.95 but I explained it was for my son we didn't want the meal deal or the large hotdog we wanted the 4.95 small hhotdogs advertised he said well its not on my till do you can't have it...in the end they did honour the order but jeee did it have to be this complicated. Won't be back in a hurry sadly.Dear Gemma, We are saddened by your review, but thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I will make sure the hot dog issue you experienced at our Grill Cafe is looked into - as you say, that should not have been the case - please do accept our sincere apologies. If you visited us on Sunday the 30th April we are puzzled by your comments about rides being shut down. We had all our (over) 40 rides and attractions all open, apart from our Treetop nets, which are being upgraded) and we welcomed a considerable number of people to the park that day. I would be interested to hear more about your visit, so we can put right any issues you experienced the day - please do write to us on hello@lightwatervalley.co.uk and tell us more. - Karina BNewcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom35 contributionsOverpriced with very few rides leftWe've been regular visitors to Lightwater Valley with our family and this was our first visit since its changed ownership. Maybe we should have checked the website before visiting ..... many of the larger rides have been removed leaving it more suited for younger children now. Park is still beautiful and well maintained but we struggled to find suitable rides. Luckily (for us) the park was extremely quiet on the Bank Holiday so they rode the same attractions many times. Definitely lost its mojo. And £8.50 for two coffees from a vending machine and one biscuit? Come on ..... it feels like prices are driving visitors away. Sadly that will be our last visit to LWVHello, Thank you for leaving your feedback on your recent visit. We have rebranded to a family adventure park, catering for children aged 12 and under, however do hope that you found something for all of the family to enjoy! We are currently in our off-peak season and are glad that you experienced small if any queues and were able to enjoy our rides at your leisure. We are constantly reviewing our prices and I have passed your comment through to our catering team. We thank you again for your feedback and hope that you may choose to visit us again in the future. Gone several times throughout the year and loved it. Service great tidy looked after well and relaxing. Shout out to Sarah Tomlinson too, as a disabled person I was panicking over doing my renewal online and the passes showed up incorrectly online. Within a day of emailing them on Sunday gone, Sarah had been in touch and sorted, really friendly great with her service and made what she did look easy was a delight to deal with and I too am in the service industry so know what to look for, Sarah ticked every box. Thanks.

We came 5th of November to see the fireworks. Didn’t expect the Halloween event to still be on. It was amazing so much time and effort had been put into it. My daughter 6 loved the scare maze and the trick or treat doors. The park looked amazing. Good to see so much staff around. Everyone looked scary in the Halloween costumes but were super friendly. Well done. See you in 2024

First visit to light water valley yesterday for the Halloween and fireworks event, and my little boy had the best day! Plenty of rides with no waiting times, Halloween sing along show and trick or treating around the park. Characters were friendly until after dark so nothing too spooky for small ones. Finshing the day with DJ scream, and fireworks! They were lovely over the lake! Budget friendly and a great day out! He has already asked to go back!

Had a great day.
Got to mention Ben on the top of water slide. What guy, went above and beyond to help.
The guy has nothing to clean the little dingys you slide down in , so he used his jacket. What a guy. Brilliant service. Thanks.

Fantastic value day out for families with younger children.
Lots of rides with no queues. We loved the Halloween theming and the number of staff who were dressed up interacting with us. We normally take a picnic as there are loads of places with benches to spread out but this time we opted to eat in because of the weather. The food wasn’t great and the service was very slow. We did buy trick or treat bags as an extra. I was sceptical at £10 each for the deluxe bag but they were well worth it and we came away with a bag full of sweets, games and goodies easily worth the money and will pay for again next year.

The halloween attractions and DJ Scream for half term were excellent. The face painting was brilliant and done by very friendy staff who were brilliant with autistic children. Our child was unwell whilst visiting and cannot thank Gina enough for helping us in crisis! She went above and beyond and is a fantastic member of staff x

Out first visit was absolutely brilliant, the whole park was great and most notably, the whole park attendants were so friendly and helpful.
The 2nd time we visited just yesterday for the Halloween special. Honestly, we were so shocked at how amazing the park looked. The actors looked and were absolutely amazing, amazing costumes and brilliantly in character. The Halloween bag we bought to do the trail was also brilliant and great value.
Special mention to Kingsley, who was soooo funny but also catered amazingly to different ages, he talked to our little boy without scaring him and really made him laugh, he was absolutely brilliant.
Just cannot say how amazing the visit was and to top it off, the train ride team were amazing and explained and showed our little boy everything about the train.
Thanks again

I took my daughter 6 and my son 1 to light water valley for the Halloween special during the half term! We had a great time, the staff all looked great in their costumes and always seemed to have a smile on their face! My little girl loved the dragon drop, there was a lovely man called Colin who was so kind and great with the kids, he was constant throughout the day as we had to go on this ride 5 times haha. He didn’t just make sure they were all safe he would interact with each child.

They are not specific parking spaces for motor homes but you can park them in spaces I think however, I would check with the park first.

Is 1.4 the height restriction for most rides? I have read comments from the park stating they have reverted to the original height restrictions, but still lots of reviews saying their kids couldnt get on the rides. I have a 7yo and a 12yo. 7yo is very tall but if he cant get on anything itll be pointless. Thanks

There are heigh restrictions on a lot of rides. And 1.4 is the minimum to go on without an adult . Mine wasn’t tall enough for waltzer and the water rapid but was allowed on with me. However some of the rides were very strict and they said no which resulted in a lot of tears ....especially if we had queues for 40 minutes
How much are fast passee vecause i was lookinv to go for a birthday party

Up to date prices on their website. They give discount to groups, NHS employees and the armed forces.

I have a small 3 year old (could pass for a 2 year old) Would he be able to still go on rides if he passed for an under 3? Or if I pay full price for him how many rides would he actually be able to go on? Thanks.

Hi, we are a family theme park and have over 35 rides and attractions aimed at families. We do have some larger rides but we do not have as many thrill rides for adults as some other park shave. Our main audience is families with children between 2 and 14.
