- Jake_LazarusIcklesham, United Kingdom16 contributionsAn enjoyable wine tour.I would recommend this place, very highly, if you are interested in wine. Step daughter bought us a tour. Our guide, Roland, was extremely knowledgeable and even patiently answered even the most stupid questions. A very nice lunch with 3 English cheeses and then onto the tasting. Now I am a staunch red drinker, mainly high end Riojas and rarely drink white. I had some bad experiences in the 70's with white wines, this put me off. I must say that English wines have come of age, the selection we tried were fabulous, the sparkling ones were superior to most champagnes. I am happy to recommend the tour and the wines. The only downside was the weather, it was freezing with ice everywhere, pick a warm day and you will enjoy the tour.Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 December 2022
- patg51Ramsgate, United Kingdom126 contributionsGreat afternoonWe went to the vineyard tour and cream tea. The tour was so informative and David the hat also made it lots of fun. The wine tasting was great. They make such lovely wine. I liked everyone that I tasted. The cream tea was lovely with a variety of cakes too. This place is rustic and has great character. I would recommend a visitVisited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 April 2023

- Joe O16 contributionsA Pleasant Morning and LunchAn enjoyable morning walking around the winery with Malcolm who was informative, approachable and amusing. I loved the ambience of the old buildings and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The tasting was interesting with the different aspects of the wines explained fully. Lunch was very tasty and was taken outside under a convenient shady tree. Overall a great experience.Visited June 2023Written 19 June 2023

A tour of the vineyard with information and great stories by our guide, Roland. Great wine tasting experience and a very filling cream tea. - Zoe A1 contributionGreat tour and wine tastingGreat tour and wine tasting with a lovely ploughman’s lunch. Our tour guide was fantastic Only criticism I had was soft drink I was offered (designated driver) with my lunch was a very small carton of orange juice! Perhaps a nice sparkling water or local apple juice (in a glass) could be usedVisited August 2023Travelled on businessWritten 25 August 2023
- parsonsacGuildford, United Kingdom3 contributionsGreat visit to Carr Taylor vineyards. We had an amazing time at Carr Taylor’s Vineyard tour. Firstly we had a very amusing but informative tour of the vineyard with Malcolm followed by a wine tasting of the various sparking and still wines they produce. Afterwards Deborah and Sue put on a hearty ploughman’s spread and helped with our purchases of wine. The tour and lunch lasted a couple of hours and I would highly recommend the vineyards.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 August 2023

David our guide was very informative and made the tour and tasting fun and enjoyable. He is clearly passionate about his wines. Verity & Maggie prepared a delicious lunch for us that we were able to enjoy outside. Booking the tour was very easy and Tom was very helpful with any questions I had. All our guests said how much they enjoyed the visit and several bought wine. Would thoroughly recommend.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 19 September 2023

The staff at Carr Taylor are wonderful, we were made to feel very welcome. Our tour guide, Malcolm, was warm, funny and interesting - a perfect host. The tour gives an opportunity to see a small, family-run vineyard - do not expect a pristine laboratory - the vibe is more Heath Robinson, but I preferred that. A very nice ploughman’s lunch, & I thought the White Pinot was exceptional - a bottle will be gracing our Christmas table!

Lovely place, Malcom the tour guide really knows how to captivate his audience. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and the wine was very tasty. The spread of food laid out was simple but very appetising. Would highly recommend 😃

Bought a Groupon and visited the vineyard with a friend. The tour was interesting and informative. David, our tour guide was very entertaining! Learned a few things about wine today that I didn't know before. Ploughman's lunch was ok, definitely needed after the wine. Staff were very friendly and allowed me to bring my dog as well. This is a small family run business so nothing fancy, very rustic but it was all done very well. Wine was really good and we bought a couple of bottles of the sparkling rose which was superb. We had a lovely day, altogether a great experience. I'd recommend a trip here for a lovely laid back afternoon in the beautiful East Sussex countryside.

We arrived 20 mins ahead of our 11:00 start as requested. On arrival we were invited to purchase a welcome drink. The tour finally started 10 mins late (22of us in total) . We opened with the fact that as they were mid harvest we would not be allowed in to see the vats / wine making process etc. in the end we stood in the car park for around 15 mins while the guide talked about the vines and history of the site. We watched some grapes being loaded into the press in the yard (from a distance) and then were sent back into the shop/tasting room. There was then a tasting of 5 wines and then at 12:40 we were told to get our buffet lunch but we would be required to vacate the room we were in by 13:00 for the next group. Lunch was a self service buffet (so please ignore the photos on the website). It was very basic - one slice of cheese each etc - and if you don’t eat pork pie the your only recourse WAS cheese (Stilton/cheddar and an under ripe Brie). Overall, I would be happy to buy some of the wines but as an “experience” of a working vineyard it was quite disappointing.

Came as a group of four and we all enjoyed ourselves immensely. Barry was an excellent tour guide; passionate, informative and fun! Couldn’t fault his hosting skills….or his juggling! The actual guided tour itself was informative and not overly long, and the wine tasting was generous as well as interesting! The cakes and scones (especially with Roddas clotted cream) were an added bonus! All round, we had an absolutely wonderful time and would recommend it to anyone. All the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Well done Carr Taylor Vinyards!

i would be in a Wheelchair is it possible to do the tour?
Travellerclass

Some areas would be accessible but very limiting. The start of the tour is achieved in the gravel car park. The wine tasting is all done upstairs. Part of the tour takes you through areas where you have to step over obstacles. To be really honest it would not be an easy tour to experience in a wheelchair having been on the tour myself. It would be worth contacting Carr Taylor direct as they may well have some sort of prevision in place to cater for this.
Are horses allowed to walk around the outside of the second vineyard

Due to the recent wet weather, will I need to bring my wellies for the vineyard tour I’m booked into this weekend?
Hello - it has been raining heavily here most of the day today so i'd advise at least sturdy boots, if not wellingtons. See you over the weekend!

Hello,
Please call us on 01424 752501 to book, or with any queries.
I can email you a list of available dates for vineyard tours with wine tasting and cream tea if that would be helpful.
Kind Regards,

I've been on an Alfa coach tour here and it's classed as a 'drop in' for a toilet break and refreshments - it isn't the full tour other visitors get. So can you tell me how it was a let down when you weren't even due a full two hour tour??? And if you wanted to spend more time there shouldn't you be complaining to Alfa Travel and not marking the vineyard down for not giving you what you weren't entitled to and certainly didn't pay for!!!

Has anyone actually seen wine being made? When would be the best time to see the actual process of picking, pressing, maybe filtration, blending and bottling too and so on?
Thanks
