I had heard good reports about this place and was looking forward to paying a visit whilst staying just a few yards away recently. Only to discover that it is now permanently closed! What a shame!

Ahmed was an amusing friendly host and the food was excellent. I changed my choice on advice which was sound and provided a different meal from my normal; which was great. Thank you, every day is a learning day.

This is a typical old country pub with a public bar and a small lounge bar, complete with beams and a log burning fire. There's a good choice of beer, but I only noticed John Smith's smooth on cask. Others I noticed, included Theakston's Best Bitter and Tiger lager on draught. The Indian restaurant (Saffron Spice) is situated in the rear of the pub, but my wife and I, and other customers, preferred to have our food brought into the pub lounge, as it was quite snug in there. The food was extremely good, and plenty of it. If you're really, really hungry, or have a large appetite, then by all means have a starter (eg: onion baji x 4). The Sheridan Sizzler has quite a lot of meat on it,as well as side dishes.

We entered this restaurant and immediately paid for a bottle of wine! There was a lack of communication and we weren't sure about the protocol upon arrival. We were ushered to the back of the restaurant / conservatory and left alone for sometime. The kind waiter took our order and Indian cuisine was very tasty! Anyone dropping in should be informed about the procedures and enjoy their meal.
