The market is smaller than you expect now. Restaurants nearby are expensive, especially Chinese restaurant. I don’t think it is more fresh to buy seafood here. You can get similar quality from nearby supermarket.

There is only a limited number of fish sellers, looks like only 1 /2 sellers. If you crave for seafood hunting, it’s not a suitable place. However, we still manage to have a taste of Clevedon oysters which are good!

We decided to visit the fish market after a pleasant walk from the city centre. Seems that we came at the wrong time, as the market is in renovation and most shops are closed. Luckily we found a shop and bought a plate of assorted...More

It's not a tourist attraction like Sydney Fish Market where loads of tourist visiting everyday but it's functional enough restaurant chefs go there to pick up seafood and catch of the day. Mussels at $4.50 per Kg is really a bargain.More

Thank you for your review. I'm afraid that you've visited us right at the height of our renovations! Our restaurant is currently closed, but can be purchased from one of our neighbours at Oceanz next door. We appreciate your comments, and hope that you come...More

It was a disappointing trip. Half of the place is closed for renovation and only a small section is open. The selection of seafood was limited. There was limited quantity of sashimi which did not look very appealing to us, so we didn’t get any....More

I arrived there while wandering around. The place is not so big, just two stall open, but the quality of fish is fantastic. it's very clean and not at all smelly. I bought some tuna and it was delicious. I will certainly be back, especially...More

We came across this Auckland landmark by chance. At the fish & chip shop, we bought fish of the day at $5. It was parore, and as it was so fresh, we bought a second portion since we didn't have enough. After that, we had...More

Most parts of the AFM are under maintenance but the fish market is still open. Walked in to a clean environment & fresh seafood. Compared to the price we paid at an oyster bar, they were four times cheaper (and fresher, tastier). Immediately grabbed 3...More

It's not smelly and very decent. This is Auckland's Fish Market. But more then just buying fish and seafood, they also have some really great places to tempt you with their cafes and restaurants or bars. The deep fried Paua (the Maori name for abalone)...More

Hi Shin, thanks for your honest review. During the winter we often have a smaller selection of fish available because of the season's availability, and we have fewer buildings open at the moment because of renovations. We'd love for you to come and visit us...More
