Walking towards the dam, you can enjoy the beautiful and peaceful scenery of the reservoir embracing by snow mountains. When you walk through the dam, you can see the waterfall from the dam running to the pond, so spectacular !

Beautiful park with incredible views of mountains and the lake flowing into the dam is stunning when in full flow. Loads to do including photography, scenic views, walking in the fresh air, walk/run the trails, forest, animals nature abound. Great spot to bring kids to run around in a safe environment. Perfect for picnics or playing Frisbee hanging out alone or in a group. Safe.

We stopped by this place on our way back from Grouse Mountain and Capilano Suspension Bridge Park not so much to see the water reservoir and dam that supplies Vancouver with much needed water, but to catch a glimpse of the red sunset reflected on its waters, with the twin peaks (called the "Lions") from a distance. The view was simply magical! The place is also a good picnic spot. Highly recommended!

you should go back in a different season. The view from the Dam is beautiful in all seasons, particularly in Winter when the mountains are blanketed in a new layer of snow.

Pass the madness of Capilano Suspension Bridge and you'll find Cleveland Dam on the same side of the street. It's free and so beautiful. I loved how calm the water was on the right and then how violently it fell on the left.

The dam is impressive, with a nice park area nearby - but the real draw for me is the network of hiking trails in the area. Hiking trail maps can be aquired at the nearby salmon hatchery - everything from a gentle walk in the woods to a nice lookout point, to moderate hiking trails.

I stopped here for a short while after visiting Grouse Mountain. This park is a beautiful place to stop and spend a few minutes or a few hours. The view is stunning. After parking, you can climb a small hill in a few steps and you are rewarded with an incredible view of Capilano Lake and the surrounding mountains. There are a few park benches set up so one can take in the view. Plenty of green space if one wants to lay down and relax. Off to the far left there are a few picnic tables for those who brought lunch. I did not have the time to eat, but I wish i had brought a sandwich along so i could sit on the grass to take in the view. If you are visiting Capilano Suspension Bridge or Grouse Mountain, this place is minutes away and worth a little detour to admire the view. One can also walk down to the Cleveland Dam which is attached to the park and can see up close the water cascading down from the resevoir.

It seems funny to say I loved a dam but I am referring to the Cleveland Dam as well as the surrounding Capilano Park. the dam is sort of at the edge of the park itself and there are lots of trails that take you to/from the dam into the heart of the park.

When you first get out of your car, pause and take in the view of the mountains towering above you (I got a bit teary eyed!). We walked onto the grassy plain and spread out the picnic basket. Just perfect.

After lunch we resisted taking a nap and walked some of the trails. The paved path takes you on top of the dam, which is always fun to stand there and see the foreceful water rushing below you. We looked at rainbows in the water then went walking. Trails are nice, shaded. Some gradients, a few rough patches (but the paths are identified in level of difficulty). We walked to the Salmon hatchery in about 20 minutes perhaps (wasn't keeping track of time), then walked back. If we had more time and been more prepared, we would have walked more trails.

Beautiful place. Not overrun with tourists. I wish we had parks like this back where we came from (the concrete jungle of the city).

We stumbled across this dam after our Capilano excursions. Very beautiful wildlife, mist, trails, flora and fauna surround this dam.
