Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As we are long term locals of the Sea to Sky Corridor, this area was a go-to place for our family for many years. It is a beautiful area that is easily accessible and provides an unforgettable experience no matter what age group the visitor is belonging to. I have taken dozens of breath taking pictures here that will stay with us for many years to come.

Loved watching the kitesurfing at the spit. Go down in lots ride and walk on the sand bar. Lots of deals playing and eating the water. Beautiful spot in the valley to see the magnificent mountains

Saw the estuary wetlands from near the log mill and managed to find our way onto the estuary road. Immediately spotted seals and bald eagles. Later saw an Osprey. Lovely countryside. The road to get there should be signed. Directions..... turning off the highway into Squamish, turn first right, go over the railway track and down for at least half a km, looking for a track off left.

The Estuary is an excellent introduction to Squamish. Using #100 of 109 Walks in British Columbia by Macaree to find the trail head. The tree root gnarly trail from the train tracks to the edges of the estuary was beautiful. Not strenuous, but a little tricky for your feet. There are birding signs everywhere, but on the day I went we had drenching rain, so didn't see any birds. But there were beautiful ripe salmon berries everywhere. Wish I had brought a basket to pick some. There were definitely some muddy areas.
Tip: Bring a dry pair of clothes and shoes for apres hike!
And when you finish, you're right next to Howe Sound Brewery, so enjoy a well deserved draft.
It's urban hiking - not much uphill, but feels like you are deep in nature.

I'm sure it's better at other times of the year. Also, the road will be the tar out of you and your car, but the walk and view is nice once you get there.

I enjoyed it! Great photo opportunities with mist rising over the river, eagles and otters, nice walks and water sports activities.

As a local, I hesitate to send people to my favourite spot, but since there is plenty of space, here we go! There are several parking areas, but for your first visit, drive out the "spit" road and park before you go out onto the narrowest part. You can walk back along a trail that takes you into the estuary itself. Actually, there are many trails off the main road, so over time, each person can develop their favourite spot.
There are many types of bird, cougars (which you are unlikely to see), and bears (which you are very likely to see in spring). Great view of the entire area. You'll go back many times to see the differences in the seasons of Squamish.

We explored the estuary very early in the morning before heading up the chief. It was a last minute addition to the day and I am so glad we made it happen. It is a beautiful and peaceful place to take a walk.
