Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Against the backdrop of the blue sky and white clouds,
The serene lake stands out beautifully.
Walking around the lake trail is refreshing.
The path full of dandelions feels like a fairy tale.
It's the first time I've seen such beautiful azaleas,
Light pink and light purple.
The colors are incredibly ethereal.
The late-blooming cherry blossoms are about to finish.
The petals covering the grass are beautiful.

I love this large suburban park. It has wetlands, lots of grassy/forested areas, and of course, the lake (Deer lake). You can rent a canoe or a paddle boat to explore the lake. Every time I come here, I feel as if I've left the big city and I'm somewhere in the countryside. This place is great for a relaxing stroll, bike ride, or a picnic. There is plenty of wildlife here as the wetlands around the lake offer nesting grounds for many birds. For that reason, pets must be on a leash. If you are lucky you may spot a bald eagle, a pheasant, or a coyote, amongst the many other wildlife such as ducks, geese, hummingbirds etc. As this park has a "wild" feel, best to go with someone for safety reasons, unless you are very familiar with the area.

This is a beautiful park to relax in Barnaby. Hidden away from the urban noise. There is plenty of green space and manicured path for easy walking trails. There's also a boating lake if you want to relax in a pedalo or kayak. Within the park there's also the Shadbolt centre, the Burnaby Art Gallery and a heritage park.

This is a lovely suburban park located in the heart of Burnaby. It has wetlands, a lake, walking trails and lots of forested area. There is a place to rent boat or canoes if you wish to explore the lake. There is a designated area for fishing. Even though it is in the middle of the city, you feel like you are in the countryside. You can see geese, ducks, turtles and even a coyote or eagle if you are lucky

Deer Lake Park has been described by the City of Burnaby as the place where “nature, culture and heritage meet.” That’s because here, not far from City Hall or Metrotown, you can enjoy well-manicured walking trails (nature), the Burnaby Art Gallery & Village Museum (culture), and consume a delicious meal at Hart House (heritage). In this regard, Deer Lake Park is more than ideal exactly because it offers up some of Burnaby’s best and it’s all within arm’s reach.
We decided to patronize Deer Lake Park after seeing an article in 604Now, which highlighted some of Greater Vancouver’s best places to capture images of Fall foliage. With its sprawling lake, lovely hiking trails and stunning autumn colours, Deer Lake did not disappoint. We spent many a moment ambling about the boardwalk and crushed gravel walkways, snapping plenty of pictures. We were lucky because, during our visit, there was hardly a breeze; thus, Deer Lake looked very much like a placid mirror. Indeed, the walk around Deer Lake proved to be invigorating and refreshing – the perfect conclusion to a day outdoors.

Born and raised in the area, Deer Lake is by far the best day out or weekend out. Beautiful walk to the lake, different access to the lake from multiple locations and an easy parking area. There are also other parking areas around the lake, Read the reviews of others, I do not wish to copy there thoughts which are very accurate for the positive. We have never run into any issues at deer lake. If one side is full we go to different areas around the lake. We find it very well maintained by the City of Burnaby during Covid. Very happy and we will return as always.

I would not rush back here while the pandemic is still going on. Despite the one way loop, it was chaos with people everywhere. The beach was gross and smelly. I have visited in the fall and it is much better, the gardens are well kept and colourful.

We have been to 2 outdoor concerts here (Jack White & REM) and have thoroughly enjoyed both times. It is a grass bowl, so it is easy to see the stage from anywhere. There is always lots of food, and beer/wine available and never terribly long line ups to get them. Well organized and fun, and both times the systems have offered great sound. Can't wait for next summer's schedule of events to be announced, as I am sure we will go again for a night of music to remember!!

I read on another website that Deer Lake is stocked with rainbow trout and you're allowed 2 per visit. It also has black crappie which is available in July and August.
