I found that during my visit to SFU for a conference this week, my eyes were always being drawn upward. The view from pretty much anywhere on campus looking outward is amazing and world class; overlooking the city, seeing the mountains, seeing the river; top...More

I attended a conference here and I am amazed how the architects made concrete Blend in with the beauty of the natural surroundings. This is a city within a city and located on a mountain. Spectacular.

When construction started some 50 years ago, these buildings were considered odd-ball and avant-garde. They are NOT unique, as they have a resemblance to the law courts in Vancouver, designed by the same architect. Back to SFU - movie buffs, especially of the sci-fi genre,...More

SFU is built on the top of a mountain, so there are lots of nice views in different directions. The architecture is interesting with many long, horizontal lines, with many dense vertical lines. Probably because it is on top of a mountain and exposed to...More

For a free (except for parking) attraction you get a unique view of the lower mainland and you get to see some unique architecture - a lot of which has been featured in big Hollywood sci-fi movies (you'll have to search imdb). It's not ever...More

Can't beat the views on a day when it's not fogged in. The scene of many a sci-fi film, the Arthur Erikson architecture is alone worth the visit. Check out the Academic Quadrangle, the reflecting pond, the aztec mound. Nice little shopping village in UniverCity,...More

On the mountain are very intelligent and talented people. I know some of the administration and teaching staff there. There's three campuses... mountain, downtown and Surrey. All good.

This campus was designed by Canada's most well known architect. Eriksson recently passed away but leaves a beautiful legacy in his master plan and design of the SFU campus and academic quadrangle. I attended a graduation under the convocation mall and it was quite a...More

Simon Fraser University (SFU) is located at the top of the Burnaby Mountain. You may reach the campus by a direct bus from downtown to university in about 30 minutes.
