Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cameron Lake is just stunning. The magnitude of the mountains and trees you’re surrounded by is so beautiful. It is a rocky beach and rocky lake bottom so I’d recommend water shoes. I wish I had some. Bring beach chairs or something comfy to sit on. Crystal clear water. Directly next to highway, can just pull onto side of road. Love it here

Some great boating, swimming and fishing. I have yet to catch a fish but such a great location and beautiful sites. The beach is a bit rocky but has either a stretched out beach, or small individual spots you can grab before someone else does. Clean and clear water.

The lake is gorgeous. When the water is calm, it kind of looks like glass or a mirror.
There is only a tiny parking lot. I did not see any other place to pull into after this place. We visited in late November - which is offseason. It was cold but we came prepared with warm clothing. The bonus of traveling during off season is we had the whole picnic area to ourselves. It was gorgeous and spectacular.

As the highway runs right alongside this small, but cold, lake, it has several areas where you can pull in and park. The best parking area is just past Chalet Road as there are excellent washrooms for your mid island pit stop.
Across the highway is a trail for experienced hikers. A lot of climbing over downed trees right now. Located less than 5 minutes ahead of McMillan Park (Cathedral Grove) the water is easily accessed from parking areas. It's quite a lot colder than other local lakes, but on a hot day, it's very refreshing. Also a good place to let your doggie (on leash) have a drink before walking in Cathedral Grove. If you miss the first parking lot, there is a second park less than a km along the wide sweeping bend, called Beaufort Park. Not as many parking stalls but just as good. Enjoy!

You might drive past this stunning lake if you are in a hurry to get to Tofino or "Ukie." But we decided to stop and enjoy this gorgeous blue lake nestled in forested mountains. The water is clear as crystal and refreshingly chilly on a hot day. There is easy access to a campground. Rocky shores mean that water-shoes are best. It's just over the hill from Cathedral Grove on Hwy 4, but it seems like a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of summer in Oceanside.

There are two or three picnic tables in the wooded area and shade for those that want it. The outhouses are new and a big improvement on the old ones. This is a great place for families to spend hot summer days. The water is clean and refreshing. The scenery is spectacular . There is a marked off swimming area but no lifeguard.

Cameron Lake sits along the North side of Highway 4 leading to Tofino and there several rest/view stops along the drive west, but this review is for the BEAUFORT PICNIC SITE, which is on the East end of Cameron Lake, and well-signed as you approach.
Be aware the parking is limited, although just further west along the highway there is a large pull off area to park and access the beach but without any service.
At Beaufort, there is more than a 180 degree view of the lake, picnic tables, toilets, beach front and a wonderful place for a quick cold dip. Cameron lake is named for the first Chief Justice of Vancouver Island, Davis Cameron.
Enjoy our heritage responsibly.

The water is crystal clear! There are rocks on the beach and in the water so water shoes of some kind would be needed. The depth of the lake is gradual so young children will do great here. There are washrooms on site but no other facilities. Bring your picnic, a blanket and a frisbee and you are set for a great time. It is close to the highway so it can be noisy. It also gets busy on a hot day so get there early.

Cameron Lake is one of some lakes located in Vancouver Island and you can see it if you go from Victoria to Tofinno, the main city and the most beautiful town in the island. Here you can see very beautiful views of the lake and it is possible to eat in the picnic zone. A good place to stop, if you are tired and need relax or eat something.
