The Sooke Region Museum & Visitor Centre is a community museum that explores the human and natural heritage of the region from Sooke to Port Renfrew. The museum also operates the local visitor information centre for the region. We have both exhibits in the main museum building and around the grounds. In the Summer we are open 7 days a week. In the off season we are closed Mondays and most Stat holidays. We also usually are closed over Christmas and the first week of January. Found the museum to be interesting, with some reminders of my own history in the logging industry. The girls behind the counter were helpful in giving directions to different places.

Well worth a visit. We wandered through here when we went to the Sooke night market. They had a lot of displays packed into a smaller place! We really enjoyed the way it was presented and laid out. Admission is by donation. They also have a great selection of giftware as well, and a large selection of local wares and... More

It was a Pokestop with free wifi. Cool little museum hidden away from the main part of town. Good history museum.

This small museum is a real find. It is extremely well done, has lots of rich history and tells the story of Sooke and the surrounding area. It is definitely worth the effort to visit. There is nothing hokey about it and it is impressive in all that it contains. Kudos to the people who put it together.

Great way to set the stage for exploring Sooke. Entry is by donation. Pulse on the history of Sooke; First Nations basketry, sailing, teaching, churches, lumberjack show, police, etc. Best part is the cross-section of a tree and the time in history it represents. Visitor Center is inside the Museum building and they are superb for recommendations.

Was quite surprised by the vast variety of artifacts in such a small museum. The local artists paintings that were on display were exquisite.
