Best fireworks ever! Unbelievable, but it was free to watch and free to park. It was like it was the sixties again, except the fireworks were futuristic. My husband and I are in our fifties and from another province, so we've seen a lot of fireworks in our lives, but we both agree it was totally awesome and we are... More

Depending on the time of day and season, there will not necessarily be a lot going on at this park. It is nice for a walk though and gives a good view of the oxbow lake at the heart of the town.

Island park is a great place to hang out in a real park setting complete with lots of trees, green grass underfoot and a lovely view of the water. Whether you're with the old lady church walking group or the local highschool stoner kids, the park offers a relaxed peaceful atmosphere for all. The only negatives I would say are... More

As Portage was my home town in my childhood I have to visit each time I am back "home." I love the trees, flowers, the memorial garden and a great place to go for a walk along the pathways along the lake which is usually frequented by many ducks and geese. Also appreciate the markers along the pathway towards the... More

Since the roads were redone this summer of 2016 I absolutely love driving through the Island Park. They have added a curb on the right hand lane early on in the drive. Parking on the left, driving on the right.

Island park is a small but very pretty park in Portage la Prairie that we love to go to at any time of the year. It's separated from the rest of the city by Crescent lake, which give it the feeling of being out in the country more than it actually is! We love the deer enclosure and the duck... More

Always a favorite place to stop for a picnic. The kids love the play structures. Beautiful with crescent lake close by - you might even see the odd pelican, hanging out with the Canadian geese. Tennis courts, picnic shelters, lots of tables and walking trails. Splash Island is a popular pool and there's also a golf course and vegetable farm... More
