The first long telephone cables laid across the ocean from UK to Hearts Content, done with difficulty and perseverance. The exchange amazingly in good order a fascinating record of man's desire to communicate across the planet. Reserve a couple of hours for a visit here.

This was a cute town that holds some interesting history. It's amazing to learn about the transatlantic cable that was the start of telegraph communication between North America and Europe. The video was very informative and worth watching. After, it's cool to see the old...More

The creation of this transatlantic cable station is comparable to the moon landing. To think that in the 19th century man invented and successfully built the technology to communicate across the ocean when most people still lived on farms without electricity! The history and machinery,...More

Wonderful written history, educational video. Worth a trip, but laid back staff a little too laid back: could offer more. Glad we went, though.

This is a must see for history buffs. The employees there were very informative. We watched a short clip about the area at the time; very informative. A must see.

I visited the Cable Station as my father was born in Heart's Content and I wished to take in some of the history. I was there before 2016 but the experience was excellent.

Even thought it's closed during the off season. Definintely worth a look, plenty of information on boards around it explaining the landing of the cable.

Although the museum is closed it is still worth a stop as a marker across the street explains the history of the transatlantic cable and you can see the cable coming out of the ocean.

The end of the Civil War in America what the beginning of new communications from North America to points east via trans-Atlantic cables. This building, well preserved, is one site where telegraph messages were "processed." Plan about an hour to visit unless you are into...More
