I wasn't sure about visiting Smartno, but it was one of my favorite places in Slovenia. It is so pretty yet it's not crowded at all. You'll need a car. be sure to try the local wine!

Smartno is a small area in Slovenia but it's beautiful and a nice stopping place when traveling around the country. My husband and I were there in May, 2015 and decided to go back this past September.

It was amazing to be on the top of the hill and see all other villages bellow you and surrounding Smartno. Village has a lot of old houses with church in the middle. Smartno has 2 entrances with walls around city. Inside there are 2 restaurants on each entrance site and one before in the hotel. Place worth to visit... More

This little village was briefly mentioned in one of the leaflets we picked up. It's a beautiful place surrounded by vineyards. The town itself is grAdually being restored following a earthquake some years ago, however there are boards around the village giving explanations about different buildings and then and now pictures. We spent an afternoon here, plenty of photos to... More

Smartno offers a true back in time experience in the village. There are enough info and other materials available that show the history.

The village of Smartno is a total gem. Located in the heart of Goriska Brda (a famous wine, cherry and olive oil region), it's a site you should definitely visit. A quaint village, full of history and offering treats for wine lovers and foodies. Stop in Gonjace's view tower for a bird's eye view of the village.

A sunset visit to Smartno is a great way to end the day to enjoy the views, the amazing wines from the region and enjoy the old township kept in a state where you can truly experience how life was hundreds of years ago. We enjoyed amazing white wines for less than a Euro a glass watching the sun set... More

Šmartno is the best village for visit in Goriška Brda. You can find a small museum with old furniture, a cultural center, some galleries and some small bars. Half of the houses have their wine cellars and they are all open for St. amrin's feast. Architecture, parts of walls and church are also interesting. You can admire some frescoes in... More

You'll love it when you visit. It small romantic village and you will definitly enjoy walking around. Combine you're trip with visit of one of the best local vinery (Movia) and try local food. In hotel San Martin you can try good food from local ingrediens. The view on the green hills is priceless.
