Love Cypress in Summer for hiking and in winter for snowshoeing. Beautiful views of the city and looking over to Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island.

It place gives you the panoramic view of Vancouver. Breath-taking. It's similar to Lawrence Lab outlook point at the U. of California-Berkeley where you see the entire SF Bay. you must take the car up there.

Just north of the city, drive up to the viewpoint to see all of Vancouver laid out below. On a clear day the views are spectacular. Combine it with a visit to Horseshoe Bay

I had read and seen so many good things about the Howe Sound Crest Trail that I made the hike up it to the Bowen Lookout part of my trip. However, I took a wrong turn at the start of Yew Lake and ended up heading up the Baden Powell Trail instead (my own fault, trails are all well-marked). However,... More

An easy drive from Vancouver, this great hike took us from about 10am to 3pm (including rest and lunch stops) - You park your car for free in the ski hill parking lot - As of Sept 14th, the pubic washrooms at the ski hill were still open - From the parking, stay to the left to find the trail... It's a beautiful mountain and a great view, but I was absolutely disgusted to see that developers are butchering the mountain to build condos and homes for the rich. It's appalling and I simply turned around and left feeling angry. It's horrible and so disappointing to see such a disregard for nature.

Not just for skiing! Great stop for a picnic in the summer also. We went to Granville Island Market in the morning, picked up a picnic lunch with wine, prosciutto, cheese, local cherries and desserts, then drove up Cypress to the lookout, then continued on until we reached the picnic area around the next turn. It's quieter at he picnic... More

10 minutes from Lions Gate bridge you start the drive up Cypress, the views from the lookout at Highview are spectacular. Vancouver spread out below like a map. Cool. Next up is Quarry picnic area and big grassy area, and the view is even better. Next up is the ski area and the start of some of the best walking... More
