The Haida Heritage Centre, located at “Sea Lion Town,” is perhaps the zenith of Haida culture. Its story is equally as fascinating as those housed within it. The Centre’s roots can be traced back to the early 1990s when the Skidegate Band Council, then led by Tom Greene, began visioning what such a space might conceivably look like. The mantle... More

If you are visiting the Haida Gwaii, a visit to this Heritage Centre is an absolute must. The exhibits are both informative and moving and the setting is stunning.. You will learn a great deal about the Haida Nation and the Haida Gwaii.

The Kay Llangaay Center in Skidegate is an exceptional experience. It displays the Haida Culture beautifully and one can even get a guide (at allocated times of the day) to tell you the stories of the poles, canoes, and exhibits throughout the center. The museum also has a great over view of the island history, wildlife, and Parks Canada.... Well... More

In order to fully appreciate the history and culture of the wonderful archipelago that is Haida Gwaii, you need to understand what the Haida have survived. The museum and gallery provide an education that allows for a much richer experience when exploring the rest of the islands. The staff are very helpful and answered a lot of questions I had... More

Center is very interesting place to visit, awesome displays of Haida costumes/apparel. Bistro food is delicious and they even sell native gifts.

This is an amazing museum with exhibits that have been very thoughtfully constructed. Our kids loved this part of our journey on Haida Gwaii. We visited towards the end of our trip but I would recommend doing so at the beginning as it provides context for all that you will see on the islands. I also suggest you find a... More

I didn't make it to the Heritage Centre until about 6 weeks into my stay on Haida Gwaii and I deeply wish I had made the time earlier. The centre is very well put together with beautiful art pieces but more importantly there is lots of cultural history to absorb that can inform your visit to these islands. Did notice... More

It was a beautiful day, so we could walk around. The previous day was pouring rain, not great for walking outside. Great place to visit, and have a lunch.
