This was my first hike and it did not disappoint! It was a long warm day, but it was not too strenuous over all. We had a large group in the boat on the way over, but were generally alone on the trail. We did see other people, but we were not moving as one big group. The trail is easy... More

First saw this on the internet and just knew it was a bucket list hike. A boat takes you to the trail head where you start the 18km return hike. The trail was in awesome condition and the hike was nothing short of spectacular. I was just in awe of the scenery and there were a few challenges as well,... More

Not too difficult, but a great variety of terrain and experiences. Catch the early boar across, and take lunch with you. The ladder, tunnel, waterfall, and lake as well as forest, scree slope and cliff exposure are a unique combination for a great day hike experience.

It was certainly a decent hike but not worth the work for the lake. If you're pressed for time and can only do one or two hikes, choose Carthew-Alderson or Akamina. Bears Hump too is worth the effort.

I've hiked a LOT. And this was my favorite hike of all time. Don't be swayed by the distance, elevation gain, ladder, tunnel, or narrow ledge and cable. It's all doable and very very worth it. My husband has an inordinate fear of heights, and he was fine. Definitely hike all the way around the lake once you get there.

September 14, 2016 My brother and I caught the 10:00 a.m. boat ride to the Crypt Lake Trail. It was a beautiful day, sunny and calm, about 55 degrees. The Fall colors were Spectacular! You can definitely hear the waterfalls echoing thru the canyons long before you arrive at them. The hike was strenuous uphill for the last mile or... More

One of many destinations closed to the public during the last major long weekend of the season by Parks Canada. I recommend avoiding Waterton Lakes National Park altogether. Had I known of all the closures I never would have made plans to come here in the first place. Save your money!

..... Then this is the hike for you! We saw a grizzly about 30 feet away from us foraging on the way up to the lake and on the way down he was on the trail foraging. The views are amazing and the real thrill comes near the top when you must climb a ladder to go through a narrow... More

As all the other reviewers as stated this is a amazing hike. On the day I went the wind was blowing from the SW at 36 and gusting to 55 and the hike was still very enjoyable. Most if the hike you do not get hit with the wind, I believe we were effected by the wind for approximately 1... More

Great hike but you have to commit. Conditions changed a lot, so bring your hot-cold-wet layers. Eat a good breakfast it's a climb to the lake. Great views. We did encounter a black bear, completely harmless and couldn't wait to get away from us. But be prepared with bear spray. Difficult for those with knee or back problems. Poles may... More
