Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Outstanding scenery from the wharf and such a beautiful village. At the time we were there in early November the end of the wharf area was full of huge seals - sea lions. Making all sorts of noise - beautiful to see so close up. The view across the bay and to the mountains with snow on the mainland were so beautiful. The village is a wonderful mix of shops and restaurants and tours shops. Each with its own unique character - wonderful. Absolutely recommend a visit and take your time to enjoy. 1-3 hours at least.

Take the seaside route instead of the Trans Canada highway after passing the Malahat and you drive through the seaside village of Cowichan Bay. There are lots of shops, galleries etc. Park and walk to the warf. Very picturesque and we could see the sea lions barking along the sea wall. A good bakery and cheese shop makes this a nice place for lunch.

An excellent place to take you visitors to see what the water history of the Pacific west coast area was.

The government wharf is worth a stroll. You might see otters or sea lions. However, Cowichan Bay overall is a rather mixed bag. Interesting sights, good bakery and so on, but you are also likely to see cigarette butts all over, dog poop in front of businesses, and a fair bit of garbage strewn around. I couldn’t say who’s responsible but it’s a shame the people here don’t take more pride in their unique village.

Wow, now there were a lot of sea lions here, they had taken over a pier, sunk a boat as well. It was great picture taking time. They come here yearly to first upon the salmon

A very lovely wharf with funky house boats and super colorful. Best part of our trip to Cowichan Bay! We saw a young otter on the dock and managed to get great photos of him/her curling up for a nap in the sun on the dock.

Parking can be hard to find nearby the wharf. Adjacent to many businesses and places to eat. Nice scenery, lots of boats and fresh air. In the summer, some weekends may offer activities that are an interest for the whole family.
