The church is just off the main Poitiers road outside Aulnay and can easily be seen as you drive along - there's a large car park opposite on Ave de l'Eglise. Back in the day this was an important medieval church for Pilgrims en route...More

the outside in just a wonder with the south entrance and the west entrance inside, the chapters are glorious a roman style jewel

On the outskirts of the town. It was a fine sunny day so we decided to visit at lunch when it was deserted. Cool and quiet inside, well worth a visit.

St. Peter's church of Aulnay-de-Saintonge is a Unesco site due to its perfect Romanesque proportions and very rich statuary. Well worth a visit, especially at sunset.

This is a great example of a Romanesque church. Especially interesting are the intricately carved portals with biblical figures including the crucified St Peter, and surrounded with amazing allegorical creatures and medieval patterns.
