Loved these falls

I loved the falls, but I also loved walking through the woods/forest to get to the falls. The trails was very walkable and the falls were well worth the time to get there.

We stopped to see the falls after spending some time at Piha beach. The hike wasn't too strenuous. We were wearing sandals and only had one bottle of water. There is a trail that goes to the top of the falls if you're feeling like more of a challenge. I was impressed with the shoe washing station at the trailhead.... More

I first visited the falls 40 years ago. The improvements to the track and toilets (still long drop thou) is very impressive. The say it's a 20 min walk, but for me it took the better part of an hour, but then I'm now 61 with artificial joints. Could do with a few more seats in the steeper parts

Living in West Auckland, we recently found out about Kitekite falls and went there on a Saturday morning. The place was busy with people but still a very enjoyable experience. There is enough space for people to sit near the falls. Some even had a little picnic of sorts. The walk is not too bad to get to the falls.... More

We knew we were going to be visiting the falls but when we arrived at the spot with our guide, they weren't visible from where we parked. We hiked just a little way in through the brush in Waitakeqe Range. The streams was lovely, and when we got to the bottom, what a spectacular surprise!! it's hard to tell you... More

The walk is not far from Piha beach and is worthwhile. It takes less than one hour, depending on how fast you go and takes you through the lushy bushes to a beautiful waterfall, where you van take a short swim.

Piha is well known for beach, sand and surf. However surrounding Piha is native bush; all part of the greater Waitakere Ranges. There are a number of tracks that cris-cross the bush, ranging from short and easy to very long and challenging. The track to Kitekite Falls belong to the former category. It is an easy 40 minute walk from... More

My family and I loved the Kitekite Falls track. The walk to the falls was peaceful, with nice vegetation and a pretty creek. The falls themselves however were by far the best part of the track, and were stunning in the sun. Definitely worth a bit of a sweaty walk on a warm day! I am not that fit and... More

This walk to the falls were so pretty it felt like you were walking in the rain forest.. It's a work out walking there but with water and a relaxed attitude it's so worth it.. Once you get there the falls are so beautiful.. you can cool off and have a swim I would recommend this place take your time... More

Great 40-45 minute track off of Piha beach takes you to this beautiful fall. Again, New Zealand is nothing but beautiful. Plenty of Photo opportunities. Make sure to wear comfortable hiking or walking shoes. (non-slippery) and take some water and snacks to sit and relax by the falls.
