Short par 3 golf course, 85-135 yards. Ideal for first time and keen golfers, good short game practace. Great family fun, beautifull course, village and setting. No clubhouse, honesty box at 1st tee, with picnic table. Club hire available (phone ahead) or at Kings Head close by. Well kept testing little course, offers great value.

Great little golf course in a beautiful Cumbrian setting. Greens and fairways looked immaculate and excellent value for money as a visitor.

Bernard was very helpful, providing all 10 of us with clubs for just £10 for the whole group.

If you're in the area and have a spare hour or two, I couldn't think of any better way to spend a fiver.

Plus, there's a great pub 2 minutes walk down the road!

This is a fantastic Par 3 golf course. Some tricky holes that make the whole experience great fun. The course is well kept and very playable with some tricky greens to catch you out. The layout is very interesting with 9 very different holes.
Highly recommended.

I came across this gem of a course 11 years ago when visiting relatives in nearby Kirby Stephen. It immediately became my favourite golf course. The layout is two sides of a small valley which the course design uses skillfully to incorporate 18 distinct tees and 9 greens. Some holes are along the level top of the valley, some along the bottom, some from top to bottom, or spectacularly from one side to the other. Full of variety and interest. All holes are par 3, but pitch and putt it is not. Stray from the fairway at your peril - strategic placing of greens and tees ensure that over, under or wayward shots may find a beck, rough, or roll down a slope. Only a few clubs are needed - I'm a coarse golfer and take 7, 9, Sandwedge, Putter, good golfers may need fewer clubs. It takes me just over an hour for 9 holes - depending on how long I spend admiring the surrounding scenery when the course is quiet. No booking needed. Green fees (cash) are paid into an honesty box, and are incredibly good value. Recently I played 4 times in a week for less that the cost of a single round at many clubs. Alas, my relatives have moved, but Riverside is only 20 minutes from M6 J38, and there are two excellent pubs in Ravenstonedale village. If you are passing, take a break, you will not regret it.
(My second favourite course is Painswick, Gloucester. "18 holes each with their own quarries". Challenging!).

Arrived at Riverside, prepared to use the Honesty System and was greeted by John who explained everything to us. Loved the little course, although the climb up to a couple of elevated tees was a bit dicey. We used it as a warm up game on the way to Appleby GC. Great fun and hope to return again one day.

This is a little gem of a course. Fun, but testing and very well tended. It’s in a beautiful and intimate setting and a great way to spend a couple of hours. My youngest daughter, who’s new to golf, loves it.

this course is a delight to play....we tried the Kings head for club hire but the owner said he had only recently taken over there and had no clubs for hire....went to the Swan and they had clubs but no balls...luckily I had a ball in my car and borrowed another from a stranger on the course...glad I persevered as the round was well worth the trouble...top marks

Played here today, after a gap of some years. Excellent course. Some challenges but plenty of well cut fairways which reduces the lost ball count. Immensely scenic and interesting, good greens and excellent fun.

Wonderfully positioned, so you can retire to the Kings Head, or Black Swan for a great pub meal afterwards

If you like Par 3s this is an excellent example (also try the Rosedale, Yorks, version of the same)

Heartily recommended
