Great fun on a day boat.

Even though the weather being November was poor we had a really lovely family day out on the canal. We rented a small day boat from Milton Keynes Marina. The boat was small but great for a day, enough room to make hot drinks and to have a picnic. Great to walk along the canal path . We found a... More

Brrr - jolly cold but had a lovely day out on the Grand Union - hired a delightful little boat at Peartree Marina for the day. Comfortably set off north & got up to Great Linford for lunchtime before heading back. Nice stretch (no locks) and the canal keeps in quite green areas.

We booked a long weekend with Wyvern Shipping company for my dads 80th Birthday. We stayed on the Contessa and would highly recommend this boat, definitely worth the extra. All the staff were extremely helpful, from checking in to Del who showed us how to operate the boat especially as this was our first time. Boat was very clean and... More

We have just gotten back from five nights in a narrow boat on the canal. I was unsure if we and the kids would like it but how wrong I was. It was amazing, so peaceful drifting along and the autumn trees were so beautiful. The locks were not as onerous as I thought and there was often someone around... More

We had a wonderful time on our narrow boat in August hired from the Wyvern Shipping Company. The boat itself was very well presented with excellent hand-over. We had a 7 berth boat for 4 of us which gave us plenty of room. Everything was superbly done. They even took us through the first lock to get the hang of... More

A lovely relaxing Holiday on the canal, lovely walks along the toe path with our dogs, made all the better by plenty of bins to leave dog waste which we always pick up, however on many occasions they were full and overflowing, a real shame.

Three enthusiastic, fit and experienced middle-aged bicyclists decided to ride the length of the Grand Union Canal from Gas Street Basin to Paddington Basin. We gave ourselves three days and stayed in hotels and B&Bs, carrying what we needed with us on the bikes. We went in mid-October and were blessed with mostly bright and warm weather aside from some... More

The canal is very peaceful most of the time, except when 120mph trains go past. It is possible to space yourself away from them with a walk, the area is very pretty.
