Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well what an experience, rude staff at the security check, quite obviously under stress of the volume of people they are trying to cope with. My wife, suffering from mobility issues was directed to the body scanning machine, this happens everytime we fly, she has a metal knee fitted. The staff member stood at the controls of the machine as I watched him. He was not concentrating on his job whilst my wife stood in the machine with her hands above her head..waiting for the system to start. Eventually it was commemced. A staff supervisor, wearing a blazer, glasses and grey beard told me, not asked me, to move away. I explained I was awaiting my wife. He again told me to move and positioned himself forward to me. I again reiterated I was waiting on my wife. He had no customer skills that were evident. The rest of the movement through security was more akin to cattle movement through an auction house or market. How long before prods are employed I wonder!

From the moment we arrived our expectation was dashed. The multi storey car park was at the bottom of a hill ,with a long winding path to the top ( 20 min wait for a bus). This was not clear on booking. Once in to the jet2 area there was clearly very few staff and even less experienced staff, told a number of different rows we needed to be in, taking a lot longer than needed. Once into the area of the bars, these were dirty with tables piled up with plates etc and sticky floors, also no view of the runway or even day light. Overall really poor. Back to Manchester Airport later this year !!

Started off not knowing where to go as no signage but followed the guys carrying gun cases. After 10mins 1:40pm The gate opened no hello or anything and had to wonder inside and find our way to the office. Still no greeting until I announced my booking and stated that we hadn’t tried airsoft before and that I had paid for kit hire as well. We were shown to the kit room and left there for 21 mins whilst the 4 experienced members got geared up and were testing their guns ( we only know this because after 10mins of waiting we wanted to know what was happening as we were told us was a 1:30 prompt start) eventually the two Marshall’s came in and very quickly read through a script from his phone in a monotone voice so was hard to keep up we ( my partner and I and a father and his son ) were referred to as rentals and the other 3 walk ons. After the briefing we went to the next room and we’re giving a gun and a metal wired mask which was extremely uncomfortable with having to wear glasses. I can see why some of them are rusty as well as you build up moisture on the metal just from breathing. Main concern # there is no sanitiser in the place at all or wipes and nothing was cleaned down so you will have to make a personal choice of using the kit provided #

By the time we got ready 3 more experienced walk on arrived we already knew before this that we were going to get shot to pieces just by looking at them get ready and the look of their guns compared to what we were given. The venue itself was pretty cool but not knowing the venue like the experienced shooters put us at a disadvantage in the games and it wasn’t much fun when they had more powerful guns, bullets that glowed in the dark, protective vests and Grenades !

I say all this because I booked the 1:30 booking for beginners and was not expecting that which made it frustrating as you can’t get much action when constantly getting killed from a distance. The other participants themselves were nice and helpful and it’s not their fault that we were told that it was for beginners. If they weren’t there I don’t see how the 5 of us would have achieved much and think they should have a 15 person minimum for booking as you can’t have teams and play the games with low numbers even with the Marshalls joining in.

In the middle of one game where I had hidden well I heard game over only to come upstairs to be told my team had forfeited without being told a reason we went into the kit room to see over half our team leaving which was annoying.

With lower numbers we played 2 more short games and then we’re told at 5:44 that was it for today. No thanks for coming or anything like that they disappeared the same way as we didn’t see them when we arrived.

So after losing 30mins at the start 15 mins at the end and several long breaks in between games then having to wait for half our team to de kit and leave out of the 4.5 hours I’d paid £35 for we had about 3 hrs or less of actual playing time.

Definitely not worth £35 each- the staff need to be more customer focused and not just speak to the regulars and remember we’re paying for the experience. And better kit needs to be provided with sanitizer at least in the main holding areas available. The venue is great the concept is great and we enjoyed the bits we could but this is not for beginners and the professional guns are more powerful than what you are given. Jeans and a hoody provide no protection against any of it so try and wear more layers or go with your own protective gear.

We are keen to take this up as a hobby but will try somewhere else as I don’t think this place has quite got the set up right for beginners. £15 for walk ins with their own gear I would say is reasonable.

We booked this activity for 8 players during our stag do as the location was great and looked promising.

However, on arrival, we were quite disappointed. We were made to wait outside for half-hour as there was a game going on (luckily it was not raining!) … instead of trying to get us someplace inside whilst they finished.

There was no organisation whatsoever, no marshalls to be seen on the games at all, and the 're-loading' room was on one side of the building, therefore, if you started 'on the other side' and had to re-load, you had to make your way through the rooms whilst 'shooting' was going on.

This was not ideal as even if you raised your arm to claim you were 'dead', people (from other bookings) kept shooting at you. There was a lot of cheating going on, people were getting shot at but remaining in their position, which made it impossible to move forward.

Only 3 rooms next to each other were playable, so it felt like playing the same game again and again.

The only protection they gave you was a mask, some of which were rusty, and some which were partially broken. The safety on the airsoft guns was loose so the gun kept getting jammed very often.

We booked for 3 hours; however, after around 1h ish and 2 games, we decided we had had enough and dropped out to actually have some fun.

Overall, the idea was good; however, based on the price tag (£34 each), we did not think it was worth it.

This was a great evening and gave me the airsoft bug, the Marshalls were friendly and kind, instructions was simple and I hope it continues where ever they find a new site next year.

It was a blast! I had a great time at Bristol Airsoft, and the unique layout of the site made games fun and enjoyable, even towards the end of the night! The marshals were really friendly and helped with anything I needed. Will, Greg, Ross and Joe were really helpful! Definitely will come again

I’ve played at BA so many times since it was first opened and it’s one of the best indoor sites I’ve ever been to. In the earlier days it had a lot more rooms and floors available to play in but as the building has deteriorated this has forced the area to shrink down, and while it’s annoying I realise it’s for good reason.

I played there last Sunday after a long hiatus of well over two years and while I did have a few great moments, there was an awful lot of cheating going on. Because I was using RIF handguns with extremely limited capacities, it was incredibly frustrating as I was burning through ammo and not having any results to show for it.
As marshals weren’t taking a proactive role in monitoring the games, these incidences were always reported after the fact when nothing could be done. From what we could tell the couple of members of staff on duty were playing the game themselves in a covert manner as opposed to being in an overt patrol state.

In between the games several upper management appeared out of the office to address the cheating and then promptly returned to the office out of sight once the games re-commenced. Now, had they been posted around the site wearing hi-vis clothing a lot of issues would have been avoided.

Yes, it’s in the responsibility of the player to abide by the honour system as it’s a non-marking projectile but the contingency to this has always been a team of patrolling marshals. I witnessed none of this, and that is a great shame as the best moments of my airsofting life (since the late 90’s) has been within the walls of BA. Unfortunately the quality of the experience has decayed along with the site.

The other problem was the amount of players was too high for such a small CQB site. With the limited amount of time left before the Courthouse closes for good, this has to be addressed.

Other aspects of the site with regards to admin/briefings, games and rules are well-defined. Game modes are particularly intense and take advantage of the buildings unique features. However, based on the experienced I mentioned above I cannot rate it any higher. From my group of friends I’m usually the one that always recommends going back there, so this has not left a good impression.

Overall, had an amazing time! The marshals were fantastic, good fun and made us feel welcome and safe. Also great value for money as you have about 4 hours (but you can leave earlier if you need to) and there are lots of game modes.

Some little things that could be improved:

1) It is quite intimidating as a beginner to be in the waiting room without a marshal to answer queries. Loads of experienced players with riot gear and their own professional guns and equipment start turning up (although they were very friendly) so we were suddenly worried we had turned up to wrong session, or misunderstood something! Perhaps a marshal could be stationed in the waiting room to greet and answer beginner queries?

2) Equally, playing alongside experienced players can turn you into cannon fodder a bit - but appreciate it is hard to get enough numbers to guarantee beginner only. Could you work a system in that pairs experienced players up with a couple of beginners? They were all clearly very knowledgeable and happy to answer our questions around tips and strategies - feels like there is an opportunity there.

3) The rental guns seemed a bit unreliable - needing to wind the magazine feed, and was never sure if I was actually shooting anything!

4) I would also recommend a hoodie/hat and gloves for your first time as the BBs sting when they hit! (You get used to it quickly but not when it brained my bald head haha)

Overall, we absolutely loved it and would definitely come again - thanks so much!
