Booked the afternoon Spa package - treatments were fantastic, afternoon tea was also good, however was let down by luke warm hot tub (why dont Spas ensure their hot tubs are HOT!??) and very cold pool. Rec. for treatments, but spa facilities a let down. Would have got 4 stars for a hot hot tub. Clue is in the name. Cheers

I came here with a couple of friends for a Day Spa. The Spa package on the face of it seemed good value for £165 including afternoon tea and a choice of three (mainly massages and one facial) treatment. We arrived at the hotel and our afternoon tea was booked first. We didn’t exactly know where to go but found the main reception and was directed by a woman at reception who English was her second language and we found it difficult to understand her.

The Restaurant was quite pleasant, nice and airy and almost had an Art Deco’ style with a modern twist. The bar was very large, and looked well stocked. We were given a menu for the afternoon tea, and once of us needed a comfort break and again after asking where the rest rooms were greet with a lady who English wasn’t her first language and found it very difficult to understand her. Nonetheless rest rooms were not that hard to find following your intuition. Eventually the afternoon tea arrived, it looked reasonable but the scones were stale and we only had one pot of Clotted cream and jam between the three of us. During our meal there was an overwhelming smell of fish, I looked around, and next to us was a couple that had just been delivered their mean of fish and chips. It smelt very bad, and I must admit I would not have eaten it.

We were shown to the very narrow steps in to the basement where the spa was. It was very claustrophobic and again had no windows. We wait to sign some forms and were lead into the changing area. There was a very small area near the lockers, which was only enough room for 3 people. There were a couple of showers but that was it. It was woefully too small! Once changed in to our bathing costumes we followed round to the spa itself. It was ridiculously small, again no windows and felt more like a dungeon! It was also incredibly hot, I felt quite faint.

There was only a couple of areas to sit, no actual loungers but raised areas with cushions of which there were two and only enough room for only 4 people. Both two areas had the same amount of cushion seating for only 4 people. Also both areas were already taken! The swimming pool was very small, it could only accommodate 4 people I would say maximum for swimming. Then there was the hot tub which again was very small. Throughout the entire time we were not able to sit and relax and more and more people came in. It was just not big enough to accommodate the amount of people.

The treatments were however pretty good, again no windows or ventilation in the rooms. But the were of reasonable standard.

All it all, this is not really a spa, it has a very small changing room and pool, nowhere to sit or unwind or relax, and the hot tub is really small. If you are at all claustrophobic DO NOT GO! There are plenty of much better spas outside the city centre that are cheaper.

All in all we were all disappointed with our spa day, we felt cramped, claustrophobic and were not able to relax the whole time.

My wife treated me to a “Reviver Massage” which was incredible. It’s not really something I’m used to but Simona put me at ease and was so relaxing. Thanks very much!

Arrived for a spa afternoon. Very nice cream tea. The spa very tired looking. Swimming pool cold and dark. Staff not very professional or particularly friendly.
Facial was good though. Wouldn’t recommend. Ok for a quick treatment but not a very nice spa.

I'm a large person, but not unusually so (size 18). Yesterday I had an unnecessarily humiliating experience when I found that the robe provided would not close at the front. There was a gap of around four inches at the hip and chest areas. The robes are cut for men, i.e., they have straight hips. A size 16 woman would probably JUST be able to get the sides to meet, but would then need an extra couple of arms to keep them clamped while walking to the treatment rooms--which means going through a public reception area and then waiting with other customers. I had no choice but to leave.

The changing rooms are cramped so this all happened in front of other customers. There's no private space in which to get changed except for toilets that smell bad--seems like a problem with the drains. There's no ventilation and because there are showers in the same space, things were very hot and humid. In addition to being cut for men, the robe was frayed, old, and there had a large brown stain. Add to that high humidity due to a lack of ventilation and it all felt grotty.

I reported the problem with the robe to a very young spa receptionist and she said the robes are controlled by an external company like I was asking to stop the tide coming in. Shocking in 2022 that this kind of thing is still going on.

Good

Treatments and therapists - they were an asset.

Improve

Smell of spa- it’s ‘drainy’ and unpleasant showers smell of wee.
Reception staff in spa- young and inexperienced to deal with unsatisfactory service
Facilities- we paid 95£ each for half day. Nothing working!!! How can you justify charging that when it was a ‘half’ service. Staff on desk really weren’t bothered or able to deal with complaint.

Feel we are owed a partial refund.

Had a very relaxing spa day. Sophie was a complete pro...very solid deep tissue massage, great listener, truly works you into a relaxed zone.
On another note, didn't think the hot tub, baby pool or the one working sauna matched the dollar point. While Sophia was tremendous, the backround ambiance music was awful...The crackling fire sounds like static noise.

It’s too hard to pick my favourite part. This place is so special. I leave every time with a feeling of peace. The facilities have just had a refurb so are better than ever. The staff are so so lovely, every time I come this time it was Tiegan and Charlotte on reception. They’re so helpful and make the experience easy and organic.
