Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A fun day out for all the family. (That’s irony by the way) Seriously, there are obsolete red phone boxes all over the UK; they are iconic features of our townscapes. Many have been repurposed as automatic defibrillator locations, book swap libraries, or even as plant swap greenhouses. This one is a museum of local life, mostly first half of the 20th century. I don’t suggest making a special trip to see it, but if you’re driving on the Shirehampton road and have 5 minutes to kill, take a look.

I have seen the sign for Sea Mills museum and was not too sure where it was and it is in fact a very prominent place and is a well looked after red painted telephone box
The door is currently locked (presumably during covid to stop either things going missing or it from being misused).
You can still see the history from the outside
Who ever maintains it, thank you for doing so and it is an asset to the area and if you are passing it is worth looking at
If you are passing then take time to look

Lovely museum in a phone box with so much history and information.
Well worth a visit and great use of an old phone box. Be good to have them all around the city of Bristol

The Sea Mills Museum, housed in a beautifully restored Phone Box, gives fascinating and fun insights into the history of an often overlooked, but really lovely, area of Bristol. One of the first Council Housing estates in the city too, built at a time when housing was seen as integral to a good life. It's really worth a visit - a tardis of surprises!

I visited for the Sea Mills 100 anniversary. Starting with a very enjoyable coffee and a bacon sandwich on the square, then a visit to the new phonebox museum and then on to read the fantastic research that people were displaying about their houses. So well organised and so interesting. Bravo to the team that organised this all - you did a brilliant job.

Really pleased to hear that you enjoyed the launch of the museum. The heritage trail was just for the weekend but he museum remains available and the display and oral histories will be updated from time to time. We will also be running more events later in the year celebrating our wonderful inter-war garden suburb.
