About
Float in the center of the city, located by the old city and the docks we're tucked away at the bottom of college green under back in action's comfortable shop. In the weightless environment devoid of all stimulation, the body is given space to fully relax and recuperate as all the senses are rested. Often described as a deeply peaceful and meditative experience.

- AimeeCaroline50 contributionsWorth a tryI suffer from axial spondyloarthritis and have a lot of discomfort from this. I wanted to try the mobiliser but the only other option was to try it for free in store and I didn’t really like the idea of people looking at me.. so booked the floatation with mobilisation. The mobiliser was amazing! I wish I lived closer as I would use it religiously. It got my back into so many positions and really helped the pain. I googled it a lot and couldn’t really find much information about it, but really was worth a go! Then I had the floatation; again - didn’t really know what to expect. The guy was friendly. You’re given ear plugs but I would recommend they give you 2 packs as literally 2 minutes after putting my head in the water, my right one fell out! I really enjoyed the floating, it was extremely relaxing and I loved just being in the dark, floating, with literally no distractions at all. I felt really weightless afterwards and would highly reccomend. Only a couple things I picked up on would be that on the website it says towels provided, but then when I read the email (after parking up, just to confirm the time) it said you needed to pay £3 to rent a towel. No issues with the price but I’d have just brought my own. There was no towel or mat on the floor after showering, so the floor got really slippery when getting out and then my socks got wet - a floor towel would be great! Shampoo and conditioner and body wash are supplied and these smell amazing - however the shower caddy was really rusty which I thought was just slacking a bit; and the mirror was really rusty too and had handprints on it. The ‘pod’ is emptied after each use so only use that water but I am a little concerned that it’s not properly cleaned between use as there were a few hairs in the water which definitely weren’t mine (but could have been the guys who got the room ready?! ) otherwise fab experience and would highly recommendVisited September 2023Travelled soloWritten 9 September 2023
- Elizabeth CBristol, United Kingdom1 contributionBlissfulUpon arrival the reception was empty but a young lady soon appeared. They were preparing the rooms for the next set of customers, which she explained. She asked me to fill in a form and asked for a few minutes whilst she finished what she was doing. Me and the others waiting were then informed in good detail, the specifics of our float session, this included information about the float pod, room, shower and anything extra. As I suffer with neck tension due to bad posture for many years I found the neck float very useful and didn’t have to pay to use it. I felt very informed and catered to throughout. The session in itself was amazing. It’s a lovely feeling being free from all sensory distractions. As a practising meditator I found it really enhanced my capability. I meditated throughout and felt extremely relaxed after. Upon leaving the same lady double checked I had enjoyed myself and was satisfied. Overall the whole experience was really great! I had my session as a voucher for my birthday but I would definitely invest in regular float sessions going forward. The staff were lovely. The room was clean/tidy and the float in itself was blissful. (I used the orbit)Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 4 November 2023
- Llaura H1 contributionLose all your stress and tension in 60 minsThis was my first float experience and it definitely won't be my last. The Bristol Float centre and their colleague Spin was an absolute delight. Really high quality relaxation area as well as three different floatation tanks to choose from. I used the Orbit and the experience was like nothing I've ever experienced before. As a newbie during the first 5 minutes I had to reassure myself I wasn't going to fall anywhere - it honestly felt like I was floating in the sky - but during the overall experience and afterwards I was the most relaxed I have ever been. During the float I felt equally connected and detached from my body, all stress and tension disappeared. I can't wait to return!Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 4 November 2023
- Nick BBristol, United Kingdom3 contributionsUnique relaxation experienceGreat gift from my wife. The mobilisation bed was a nice start that was relaxing enough even before the main event. I went into the Open Pod, a kind of sci-fi egg with optional orange lighting. Very snug and relaxing way to spend an hour, floating in the dark. Great introduction to the facilities from the friendly staff. Will definitely return!Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 12 November 2023
- fiona s1 contributionTHE best place for recovery and relaxationI have floated on and off for years so after moving house last week, it was my go to recovery therapy to get over all the aches and pains of lugging heavy boxes all week! My float didn't disappoint, I literally came out feeling new and whole again. Thanks Bristol Float once again, I'll be back :)Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 14 November 2023
- Zoe M6 contributionsGreat!First time floater My friend arranged as a birthday treat. The experience was very relaxing. 30 mins in it felt like you were being supported by the water which was an odd but good experience. There is a nice chill out room for after your float with speciality teas which was a nice touch. The lady working there was very welcoming/informative.Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 15 November 2023
- Oliver B1 contributionExcellent experienceAmazing experience!!! Can’t wait to go again. Very unique and so good for your body and mind. The Manager, Spin is lovely. She will make you feel welcome, relaxed and at ease. She will talk through how the sessions work so you don't have to do anything but relax. I will be back.Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 30 November 2023
- Eleanor D1 contributionA heavenly first float! It was my first time floating. I had a very warm and friendly welcome from Spin upon arrival, they were helpful and informative before I had my float and I felt comfortable and safe and ready to enjoy my session. The float was incredible, so relaxing and just a wonderful experience! They provide everything you need which is a bonus, lovely facilities! I left feeling light and rejuvenated. I’d recommend everyone to give it a try!!Visited December 2023Travelled soloWritten 9 December 2023
- Dave H2 contributionsWhatever Floats your ButtThe definition of a plankton is any living thing that does not swim on its own, but instead relies on the natural current of the sea to get around. In other words, they just float. The Bristol Float Centre (or plankton simulator, if you will) is a transcendental experience that will leave you thoroughly relaxed. Personally, I experienced weightlessness, visual effects brought about by my own brain/eyes, and the loud underwater amplification of my rumbly tummy (not a bad thing at all, actually quite funny)! I have so far tried the cabin and the open pod, both very good! If it is your first time I would recommend the cabin just because it is slightly bigger and just a bit of a nicer setting. Happy floating!Visited December 2023Travelled soloWritten 9 December 2023

Let me start off by saying this place is probably the worst customer service experience I have had in my 12 years of living in Bristol! I booked a romantic two person float for valentines weekend for it to be cancelled due to noise and building maintenance, which was acceptable. Month's went by with no update. I had to call multiple times and each time being told it would be rebooked soon. The last time I phoned I was told 2 weeks.... 6 weeks went by and still nothing. Ultimately she got upset and I got annoyed so I phoned and asked why there wasn't one phone call from them or even an apology that would have went a long way and meant a lot. Instead I get "it's not my problem, I'm not that type of person to update you or apologise". In the end I requested a refund because even if I went for a float knowing I would have to meet this guy that doesn't give a damn about customer service I wouldn't have been able to relax at the float centre anyway. I hope the owners know that one man in their business is slowly destroying it from the ground up. Good luck and if you read this review, be cautious if you want a nice experience.

The float was such a cool and relaxing experience! It was so freeing to just float and let my whole body relax, I even managed to star fish! I found it especially effective when turning out the lights, so it went pitch black, for a full immersive experience! The temperature of the water was just right, too! Which is always a worry for me, as I’m a ‘cold running’ person, especially in water, but this was lovely and warm, without being too hot, like a sauna.
The floatation room itself felt comfortable and had cute and functional facilities, with everything easily accessible. I definitely recommend making use of the free ear plugs! And if you have long hair, be sure to thoroughly rinse your hair out!
We also got to try the Mobiliser, which was a unique experience! I’m always looking at ways to improve my back pain and have certainly noticed a difference. It’s a bit of a weird sensation, but once you get accustomed to it, you learn to go with the flow and can feel the good that it does for you. I’d love to go on it again!
Spin was lovely and friendly and she made the whole experience a joy! She talked us through everything we needed to know, giving us a calm introduction to quite unknown territory! She was able to reassure us and alleviate any apprehension, which ultimately was totally unfounded, as the experience was throughly enjoyable from start to finish!
Looking forward to our next visit!

Weightless bliss in Bristol, floating in warm watery supported space. In practical terms a clear and easy welcome with all questions answered..how do I get in, how do I get out, how do I know when my time is up etc etc. Gentle music and lights fade down as you settle in and fade up to indicate time over. Everywhere spotless clean. A quiet comfortable area to slowly return and prepare to go back into the city renewed and refreshed.

We arrived half hour or so early for our session, it was our first time and had to get across town so we arrived earlier than we expected sweaty and tired so thought we might be able to wait for our sessions onsite.
When we arrived it was down stairs in a furniture store as per the description.
It didn’t feel the most inviting place we’d ever been but thought there is a two seater sofa at least we can sit down.
The guy on reception was pleasant enough but did try to get us to leave instead of hanging around.
We assumed it was because there were only two seats to wait at.
But as we found out later there was actually a whole other area you could sit and have tea etc yet we weren’t told this.
We feel the customer service was really poor.
It was assumed we’d been before and knew what we were doing and where we were going.
It felt like it was a chore to have to explain anything well to be honest it felt a bit of a chore for the guy to have to speak to us full stop really.
On the website it states you get towels and ear plugs included yet he tried to charge extra to rent a towel.
The ear plugs kept falling out as they got wet and there was only one pair and no small towel as we were told to wipe your eyes but unfortunately I didn’t notice until in the tank.
For these reasons we won’t be returning, for £59 I expect a towel and pretty great customer service showing me the facilities I can use and how to get the most from my experience or at the very least showing me the float tank and how to use it with a cheerful attitude.

My mental health has improved dramatically and I had the most interesting hour.
I have a disability which reduces my mobility and I was really anxious about getting in and out of the pool but after a phone call I was able to have my partner come in with me to help me mobilise down the one step into the pool and then leave me to the most wonderful experience. The only down side is the centre is in the basement and down some stairs so if you are not ambulatory you won't be able to access it.
The experience itself was quite lovely I was warm, and weightless. It allowed me to go into a very deep meditative state for around 45 minutes and then I fell asleep for the last few minutes! I was so relaxed and calm at the end and I've brought that calm home with me.
I've been in the best mental health for a very long time. I have cooked from scratch for two days and am not getting caught up in the usual negative loops.
I will absolutely return. If you have metal health issues or a chronic health condition I strongly recommend this for you.

I walked in not really knowing what to expect. Spin welcomed me with a warm smile and made me feel instantly at ease.
I had booked a session on the mobiliser first and spent 15 mins laying on a bed with what I would describe as mechanical foam rollers rolling up and down my back and legs making me move in a wave like motion. Once I got used to the motion and let the tension go it was a great experience. I felt like I could lay there all day.
Then I was taken into the float room. The room I was in had a shower cubicle, a rack to put your belongings and hooks on the back of the door. Most of the room was taken up by the float pod. The main light is on a motion sensor and there is a button in the pod for some low level coloured lights that you can control from the water.
A quick shower to rinse off any oils and products from my skin, popped in the earplugs supplied and I stepped into the pod. I laid down and immediately bounced to the top of the water, a strange but wonderful weightless moment. The main light went out after a few minutes and I decided to turn off the pod lights. There was no light in the room at all, but this just made it easier to switch my mind off. For the next hour I floated going between total darkness and the pod lights and for the first time in a long time my mind was empty of thoughts, I enjoyed the feeling of weightlessness and felt safe in the warm water. The hour went so fast. The lights come on and there was a wind chime noise signalling the end of the session.
Another shower to rinse off all the salt using some gorgeous coconut products that are supplied before getting dressed and sitting in a relaxation room where fruit teas and water are provided giving you chance to gather yourself before heading back out to the world.
I am rebooking another session and would highly recommend that you give it a go.

This is probably one of the best things I have begun to do for myself. I carry a lot of stress and am constantly on the go so the 90 minutes I allow myself to have my muscles worked by the mobiliser (which I cynically thought would be rubbish but stretches and works all the right muscles) and then the space to be with myself in the floatation tank is the best gift. It allows me to process what’s going on with my internal condition and to go out into the world with more peace and compassion for my fellow person. I can’t recommend this experience highly enough and add to this how lovely the space and the staff are, it’s something I’d urge anyone to try at least once.

I didn’t know what to expect from this at all but received it as a gift for my Birthday so went along to discover all. From the moment that I arrived and was greeted by the lovely staff, had time to chat to other people who were attending and made to feel at ease and excited about the session. The experience was so personal, peaceful, moving (incredible where the mind goes when you allow yourself such isolation and relaxation. Profoundly uplifting and I can’t wait to go again (and treat my loved ones to a go) Thanks so much, Kate x

Me and my partner opted for the couples cabin as I was a bit nervous but from the minute arriving at the centre I was put at ease by the calm atmosphere and having everything so well explained. The actual experience was a unique one - I worried 1hr in a dark salty bath tub might drag but I couldn't believe it was over so fast (the lights turn on and chime when your hours up, which helped me to relax as I didn't have to worry about time in the outside world). There was so much peace and a sense of deep calm in that little tub.
After the fact there was a lovely shower, space to dry your hair and even an after float chill out area with some books and a cup of tea.
A lovely experience all round! Would highly recommend.
