Went to the museum for the first time in 40 years. Much of it felt the same but thought it could do with some modernisation in places and more interactive activities for children. Loved the building.

This was our first visit to Bristol Museum & Art Gallery for years. We went specifically to see a temporary exhibition about the Anglo-Saxon Staffordshire Hoard, but set aside time to explore the permanent exhibitions as well. The temporary exhibition was very good - a bit smaller than I had expected, but only a few pounds to get in and... More

We visited primarily to see the temporary exhibiton of the Staffordshire Hoard of Saxon treasure and were blown away by it. The conservationists have done a fantastic job of cleaning linking the many hundred pieces of gold and the curators have produced a very well-presented and informative exhibition. Many of the artefacts come from elaborate swords or hunting knives and... More

There is something for everyone here, certainly do not get bored. We decided to be tourists in our home town and found this gem, plus it regularly has interesting temporary exhibits to draw you through the doors. If your a good story teller you can really bring centuries of history to life for the young ones.

This museum had displays galore. The artwork was very interesting and a delight to see. Some of the art models were breathtaking. There is a very steep hill to get here but it's well worth it. Plenty of shops to pop into on the way up.

A really great city museum - They currently have part of the Staffordshire Hoard on Display - A very well presented exhibition (with some great pieces, which although small are very significant in the context of UK History). Well worth a visit.

Lots to see. Very varied exhibitions. Need to allow enough time to see it all thoroughly. It is free but a donation is welcome.

I have visited Bristol Museum on numerous occasions, and each visit has been different. My most recent visit involved entertaining a primary-school aged grandson for an hour or so prior to lunch. Perfect! Every child loves a dinosaur or two, and whilst far from spectacular, there is enough to capture a young imagination for half an hour or so. Many... More

Looked a bit dated with not much in the way of interactive items to excite our grandson. It reminded me of a small town museum with its stuffed animals.
