    Gem of a pub
A truly unique pub in clifton village. An impressive selection of Belgian beers as well as all the usual beverages. A great atmosphere and warm welcome. Just what I was hoping to find and it will definitely be on my list of places to enjoy again on future visits.

    Lovely quirky local find ❣️
The Portcullis Pub in Clifton is now our top local spot. It's managed exceptionally well, offering a warm welcome and a remarkable collection of Belgian beers for all tastes. The ambiance is fantastic, with great music and quirky spaces, making it perfect for a relaxed evening. Plus, we're excited about their upcoming roasts and movie nights. In summary, The Portcullis is a hidden gem, with its welcoming atmosphere, excellent beer selection, and unique spaces, making it our favorite choice for a night out. We can't wait to visit again soon!

Quirky lovely pub with a great selection of Belgian beers
Have been visiting the Portcullis for a while now, it's one of a kind! Incredible cozy atmosphere, great beer selection, and always a nice chat with Paul or Frazer. Would recommend to anyone who wonders where to do for an authentic Bristolian experience.

Nice looking pub but we were turned away because we were a "large party" i.e. 8 middle aged and very good natured people. Pub was empty. When we asked (nicely) what the problem was we were told " I don't make the rules". Unlikely to risk going there again.

We traveled from Radstock to the portcullis to be greeted with we don’t serve large parties here
We had a few words with the most unfriendly female behind the bar and the very large party left ( 9) we went on to the fringe where we had a few pints with out any affray

Really odd chef...ordered food and asked for vinegar, chef just shouted NO VINEGAR!
It has a very odd vibe.

I struggle to find dog friendly pubs in Bristol, particularly in recent months as with the unfair persecution of XL Bullies, as my dog is. Sadly my dog Bronson is misunderstood as he has a heart of gold and is just nervous. Thankfully this was a perfect environment with no children and no large groups for me to enjoy my pint in peace after a walk around the Downs.

Really lovely little local gem of a pub. Great tap selection, decent wine, friendly service and good value for money. Love the quirky decor in the bathroom and the cosy seating in the window. So nice we popped in twice in the same day!

Service very poor. Couldn’t be bothered attitude. Apparently reading other reviews its not an isolated issue. Shame. As lovely pub but ruined with an extremely rude older woman.

sorry you found the service very poor, we wouldn't normally serve people who, in our opinion are already a little drunk. Yet again, people being rude to us must expect the same kind of treatment in return. We are seeing this kind of disrespectful behaviour more often post covid, being polite and courteous still costs nothing in this new "entitled" society we now seem to be living in.
