Party of 20 of us went to Riproar last night and had one amazing night out. New venue for them, and currently using the downstairs Steam Bar Cafe, which we thought would be negative, but it turned out a major positive as the comedians had the window with the back drop of a Bristol street behind them - with passers-by... I've been here a couple of times. The comedy's been pretty good both times and I'd happily go again but the food is pretty dire so don't waste your money on it! I didn't have high expectations of the food, but was at least expecting wetherspoons standard. Be prepared for dirty burger van standards.

Went to Riproar for my birthday on Saturday, never having been to a stand-up comedy show before. According to their flyers and their website, it looks like this venue is new for Riproar, and I couldn't believe what I saw when I got up there.  At first, it looks a bit like you're going into an office building, with a... Great venue in the heart of the Harbour. Don't be put off by the fact that it is on the top floor of an office, the views are to die for. Well laid out venue with friendly bar staff. We went for the meal deal and enjoyed the very generous portions and selection of fresh food. We were not expecting... More

Some aspects really good (like views) but completely disgusting food. They must have made a killing on it but made a rod for their own backs as they had to carry most of it out in bin bags after everyone had left (yes, we got to see leftovers all night left around on surfaces and in open bin bags just... At Riproar we serve food made from fresh, locally-supplied ingredients from Bristol's highest quality independent suppliers (like Dave Giles Butchers and Pawsons Fruit and Veg on Gloucester Road). We take care to use perfectly fresh produce, which we pick up ourselves on the day we serve it. We employ a chef to prepare all of our dishes, also on the... More

I've been to a number of shows at the former Jester's. This was my first time at RipRoar. Whilst Jester's at the Metropolis was architecturally majestic, the acts did have a tendency to get visually lost on the stage - not so at RipRoar. RipRoar has the feeling of an intimate, underground club yet caters to 200+ punters... and when... More

I used to frequent Riproar back in the days when it was Jesters Comedy Club and housed in a dingy, leaking club on Gloucester Road - as all comedy clubs should be. The new venue couldn't be further away from the original. Up on the top floor of the Arnolfini it has sweeping, panoramic views over the city, a reasonably... More

If you like rowdy stags and hens then this is for you. The comedy, of which there were three acts, was pretty dire. The first guy belonged in a working mens club in the 1970's, the second act was better with some modern material but the third act, tipped by the compare as, 'his favourite comedian' didn't seem to have... It's disappointing that you felt our night was stag and hen 'central' - clearly we try not to discriminate on party types, a s we like to give everyone the opportunity to enjoy themselves at our club. Factually, only 37 of the 196 people in on the night of your show were in a stag or hen party. Steve Harris... More

Hi Steve Thank you for your review - it's great that customers take the time to let us know what they think. It's a shame you didn't like Carly - (the comedian you described as the 'female was rubbish'). We have booked Carly many times, and she always does well. On the night you came, I watched her whole set,... More
