About
A friendly, professional flying club based at Bristol Airport. With a great view of the airfield, indoor/outdoor seating and a licensed cafe and bar, the club is open to all and has plenty of free parking. Offering a whole host of training from the Private Pilots Licence (PPL) through to the Night Qualification and IMC Rating, and If you are new to the world of aviation we also provide a wide range of trial lessons as tasters, or to get you started on the road towards a PPL. Our highly professional instructors have an admirable reputation for their excellent standards.

Bought a flying experience voucher for my son for Christmas 2022, to this date I’ve had it cancelled many times, yes that was due to weather however the lack of dates/flexibility means that it’s nearly Christmas 2023 and my son still hasn’t experienced his £299 gift. I’ve asked for refunds to which I get no response. I feel sorry that I’d bought this voucher that was meant to be a lovely experience for my son. Complete waste of money.

I booked a flying lesson with this club recently. My instructor was very helpful, explaining things well and being accommodating. If you want to book a lesson with them, it’s certainly a good experience, though make sure you book as soon as you buy the voucher as they can take a while to process requests.

Trial flying lesson. What an experience. Firstly all the staff, from guy on reception, the friendly catering staff and amazing instructor Ben were all faultless. Great food available too. Instructor Ben put me at ease and allowed me to do much more then I ever anticipated. Had the controls all the time with the exception of take off and landing. He gave me the right level of guidance and insight without information overload. Really impressed and can’t rate them highly enough. Had a full hour in the air too

I have just returned from a flight experience today and it was absolutely amazing.
From arrival the facilities were excellent and also the information prior to flying was explained very clearly which was very useful.
The flight itself was amazing with the pilot explaining what he was doing and why and it gives you a much better understanding what flying is about.
The staff I encountered today from the restaurant staff to the flying people were friendly, courteous and highly professional.
I would highly recommend a visit.

I booked a one hour trial lessons for my nephew for his 18th birthday. We were fortunate to get up the first time we booked and I was able to accompany him. We had a fabulous time! Lavinia, the instructor, was great. Really encouraging and accommodating of all he wanted to achieve. Would definitely recommend this flying club and the experience.

I am 17 years old and I have been flying at BaWAC for nearly 1 year now and I am currently taking lessons towards my PPL. Bristol and Wessex has amazing, friendly staff at reception and knowledgeable, experienced instructors, passionate on helping all students to achieve their goals in aviation. I am extremely grateful for the training that BaWAC has been able to provide me so far, and I can't wait to keep on learning!

I have a voucher with a couple of months to go until it's expiry date, I asked if my voucher could be extended to accommodate an injury recovery (I can't walk at the moment) and was given the following options from Gary their Operation Manager:
1. Gift/sell the voucher to someone else
2. Possibly something could be done as the voucher expires, probably with a cost, but they can't say what that would be
3. Get nothing for the voucher at all
I had booked my flight in but was cancelled due to bad weather, not their fault for that obviously safety first but I did have to wait two months for a weekend slot so if you're hoping to fly at a weekend you'll need some luck to get a slot within voucher expiry timeframes. If you choose to book a voucher with this company, be aware there is a risk of getting nothing for your money!!!

May I say that we are very proud of the thousands of customers we fly every year from our club based at Bristol Airport which has been operating since 1927. It’s always sad and regrettable some people take to social media and review websites rather than speak to us directly to get the issue solved.
However, may I remind you of the facts which are as follows. We responded to your email on January 1st providing positive help. Unfortunately it was 5 months before you responded to us, which as you know is very close to the expiry date of the voucher. We offered help in extending the voucher period for a small fee, simply because the voucher time cannot normally be extended.
Our offer options still stand and I would personally welcome you to our flight training centre at Bristol Airport, we would also like to offer you a free lunch on us, prior to or after your flight experience to resolve this matter.
If you do not contact us regarding the options, we will contribute the value of the voucher to a charity of your choice.

I brought this experience for my husband for Christmas, and booked in for 19th March, was very easy to book and lady on the phone was very helpful.
On the day we managed to book myself to go up as a passenger to which was a bonus.
Jonathon the pilot was fantastic! He is an absolutely lovely man, who was very calm, friendly and knowledgeable about the area.
I cannot recommend this experience enough and recommend Jonathon enough!

Brilliant, friendly and knowledgable instructor that really put you at ease when flying. My first ever flying lesson and really enjoyed it. After getting a voucher for my birthday and then covid hitting, I finally got to use my voucher in Jan 2022. The team were very helpful in getting my lesson booked in even though my voucher expired during the covid lockdown. My boyfriend also came as a passenger for an extra £35 and enjoyed the experience with me.
I would definitely recommend flying at this club and hope to again myself in the future.

Thank you for your question. A flying lesson is a brilliant choice for a memorable 30th birthday experience. Many pilots started off with a birthday experience and ended up loving it so much that they made a passionate hobby of it and many have made career of it.
With a 1 hour session (£199) there is a little ground work included e.g. explaining controls etc. So it does tend to run a little over the hour.
